New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

A life in communion with God is one that is also lived in communion with one another. And as John wrote in one of his letters, we cannot love God, whom we have never seen, if we do not love our brother or sister whom we have seen. We hunger for bread and the bread of life. We grow in the desire for spirituality and justice. A scriptural imagination helps us to see that bread is always more than bread, that communion is life with God and with one another. The One who feeds the multitudes feeds us also and calls us to feed others.

Today’s Question

How often do you answer God’s call to feed those who are hungry? Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

My brothers and sisters, what good is it if people say they have faith but do nothing to show it? Claiming to have faith can’t save anyone, can it? Imagine a brother or sister who is naked and never has enough food to eat. What if one of you said, “Go in peace! Stay warm! Have a nice meal!”? What good is it if you don’t actually give them what their body needs?
—James 2:14-16 (CEB)

Not as much as I’d like. Thankful for the resources I receive, lately they are stretched with our current economy and we’re trying to stretch them more to save for our hoped for move to the Poconos. Have to see what happens. Challenging times. Prayers for Ally’s cats, tough to see pets with health issues. Safe travel prayers today as Jill flies to Florida. Last touches on the message,
have fellowship time at 8:30. Thankful there will be a cost of living increase in Social Security come
January. Prayers too for April, Lou, Rick and Scott. In the 60s, rain now and expected until Saturday, flood warnings in effect. The leaves will come off. Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love. Thank You, Lord.

As I have said, Megan and I will be volunteering the entire day of Thanksgiving to help the church’s endeavor of feeding the needy and those who are unable to have a regular Thanksgiving meal. I also contribute items as requested by the committee chair to be used to prepare the meal. Lastly, I bake an item that will be used as a dessert for the dine in guests.I also thought immeditely of tipping servers when diniing out. These people rely on tips to make ends meet and buy such necessities as food and I try to be mindful of that.
I attended the caregiver’s support group. It was wonderful. The other caregiver is the mother of a foster child with many devastating health issues as well as behavioral issues. I will be returning next month. H continues to argue regarding the sale of his car so I will need to address this next week. I need to call the place that will buy it and finanlize the transfer once and for all.
Prayers for Ally as she struggles with her own health issues as well as those of David and the kitties. Prayers for safe travel for Jill. Prayers for Robert as he continues to write his message for Sunday, may it be well received.
