New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Take some deep breaths, giving thanks to the Source of the life you receive. For twenty minutes commune silently with our Creator, Savior, and indwelling Spirit.

Read Psalm 145:1-7. Take a word from the reading. Listen to what that word means for you. Thank God for the insight you have been given and ask God to help you accept any invitation that grows from it. Be in silence for a moment of transition preparing to bring the word you have received into your world of daily activity.

—J. David Muyskens, Sacred Breath: Forty Days of Centering Prayer (Upper Room Books, 2010)

Today’s Question

What invitation arises as you meditate on God’s “wondrous works”? Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

On the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.

—Psalm 145:5 (NRSV)

Prayer for the Week

This week we invite you to practice Centering Prayer:
1. Choose a sacred word as the symbol of your intention to consent to God’s presence and action within.
2. Sitting comfortably and with eyes closed, settle briefly, and then silently introduce the sacred word as the symbol of your consent to God’s presence and action within.
3. When engaged with your thoughts [which includes body sensations, feelings, images, reflections], return ever so gently to the sacred word.
4. At the end of the prayer period, remain in silence with eyes closed for a couple of minutes.
Submit your prayer to The Upper Room.

Yes, YHWH is a verb. God is love and love acts, creates, cares, empowers, supports, encourages. Without love we do not exist, nor does the world we live in. Thank You , Lord.
This week’s reflections mirror in many ways the daily lessons from “Listening -Praying in a Noisy World” by Rueben Job. They reinforce, compliment, and encourage one another.
A wonderful ,long awaited, very successful day yesterday at two wildlife management areas. Did run into a lot of ticks at the first area, but managed to get rid of them. Sadly they were the only wild life we saw. Have good maps and know how to get to each place. Many acres to explore at each area.
All the attributes of God listed in this Psalm leave me to focus on one word that embodies all of them – God. Only Jesus and the Holy Spirit can be mentioned at the same level.
The yellow paint is on the front of the Central Vermont Brill car. It will need a second coat. Hope to have it well dried so when the 3mm making tape comes, stripes can result.
Saw a second version of “Dr. Zhivago” in the last few days. First saw a movie with that title in the late 1960s, was studying Russian and Russian history in those days. It’s still an amazing story.
Very thankful for the resources available at church that not only enable many aids to help a pastoral transition but also help four different missions within the district, out of state, and out of country. Thank You, Lord. That there is progress with the varied challenges faced by each of you, is my prayer.. Thank You, Lord.

The words of speaking of God’s wondress works to others and the next generation speak to me. We are to spread God’s good news to others and especially the next generation. I do subtletly try this with Megan since I know she does not believe. But she is agreeable to my speaking of my faith.
Cashed in some savings bonds yesterday to help pay the latest lawyer invoice. Some were not yet mature so will have to weed through the ones remaining. Will have some left over but more large bills to follow. Also received a document h was to provide regarding the beneficiary on his 401(k) accounts. It was a form to chhange the designee. I emailed my lawyer to make sure she receives the final document that the change has actually taken place. I know how h works and this revelation also proves he lied about his finances during the deposition. H just arrived home. My respite ends and my hands have begun to shake!
Prayers for Robert’s church and willdlife viewing. Prayers for Ally and David’s health. Ally did you get the job you were vying for? Prayers for Jill, for increased awareness and patience. Prayers for Lou’s search for her new work for her life. Thank you for your prayers.

Psalm 145 was a psalm I memorized earlier in the year. I had this grand idea that I would memorize all of David’s psalms. I first checked to make sure Psalm 119 wasn’t one of them. When I looked up how many there were – 75! That will take about 5+ more years. I fizzled out last year after only 4 psalms, but so far have been sticking with one psalm a month this year. June’s is Psalm 86.
The invitation which arises is a greater desire to submit appropriately and fully. A recognition of how I need God’s help, because on my own I become frustrated and unattentive.
All exams are graded, grades entered, and room cleared out and ready for summer. Last minute treasurer stuff trickling in. I should be in good shape to get out of here tomorrow, once the meeting is over. Dad and I have a tee-time around lunch.
It was a bit drizzly when I arrived home last night – so wasn’t able to get my yard mown. Still dreary today, so doubt it will be dry enough to mow before tennis tonight. Will have to do it tomorrow before or after golf. It needs it badly and if I don’t get it done before I leave – it will “be as high as an elephant’s eye” by the time I return from the beach.
Still trying to pack without Roger knowing. Have stacks of clothes, but haven’t pulled out the red suitcase. Once he sees the red suitcase, he is seeing red for a while and moving into pout mode.
