New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

On the journey of aging, you have learned that life’s more difficult questions are seldom answered with simple facts. These questions are nuanced and require wisdom and discernment. Though anyone can accumulate knowledge and facts, only God can give you true wisdom.

I seek God to reveal what He wills, when he wills. I think I have very much embraced the “both/and” which often occurs. Not having to be black or white…on some things. Yes, there are some very black and white issues, which are non-negotiable. But there are circumstances where it is very hard AND God is still unyieldingly good. There can be blessing in suffering. I am grateful for this perspective.
I am open (I pray) to God changing my mind, my outlook on things. Father – give me Your perspective.
Yesterday was a hectic day at school – an altered schedule due to a pep assembly at the end of the day. My god son played an hour north – and the team took their second loss. It was a hard fought game. I think it will be good for them, they needed to be knocked down a notch. Hopefully they will respond well. They are 14-2. My friend made it back from her business trip and arrived at the end of the first quarter. She tolerated the flights well. Very grateful. She hugged and kissed her boy after the game…so good for her.
Two of my students, brothers, have a hockey game I will be attending this afternoon. I also called my aunt and uncle and asked if they would like to meet me for dinner afterwards, at a little Italian restaurant near the ice rink. They agreed. It is my uncle’s birthday on Monday – so I thought I could give him his card and have dinner with the two of them.
