New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

We find Jesus in the all-too-human “traditions” of oppression, suffering, and need. “Yes,” Jesus says through the parable [of the sheep and goats in Matthew 25:31-46]. “I am found beyond the walls of the church; beyond religious programs; beyond rituals, rites, and institutions. Wherever people hunger and thirst, I hunger and thirst. I am out there with the people. I am out there with creation that groans.”

—Elaine A. Heath, God Unbound: Wisdom from Galatians for the Anxious Church (Upper Room Books, 2016)

Today’s Scripture

[Jesus said,] “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I’m there with them.”
—Matthew 18:20 (CEB)

Prayer for the Week

Holy God, thank you for the many expressions of church that are available to us today. Help us to remember that we are your beloved children. Guide us to love one another and to remain faithful to you through prayer and other spiritual practices. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are everywhere At places where people are helped: hospitals, shelters, kitchens, clothing and food distribution, grief and mental health gatherings. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are everywhere. that people are doing their work. Thank You, Lord.
Prayers for my former church without a pastor, for Ally&David, Jill, and Julie. Strength, fortitude, recovery, as their needs and concerns are met. Thank You, Lord.

Everywhere! When someone holds the door for me or anyone, when I take the time to get to know the salespeople and servers at the establishments I frequent, when I pass an animal shelter, etc, etc etc. God is everywhere and in everyone.

I have found Jesus as a third member in a conversation while walking around the outside of a soccer field. I have found Jesus in the warm embrace of a friend. I have found Jesus in a conversation where both people on the phone are crying. I have found Jesus while lying in bed with my ill mother. I have found Jesus on a car ride to a tennis match. I have been fortunate to find Jesus in the ordinary, as well as the extraordinary. I am grateful for His presence and an awareness of His presence.
Testing day at school – with all grade levels taking either practice tests or tests which count – on national exams. We will have one class at the end of the day, once everyone has eaten lunch. A two hour meeting for my program follows…
