New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

FOR WHAT DO WE THIRST? Theologian and humanitarian Jean Vanier points out that to be thirsty in biblical language is to be “dried up inside,” “to feel totally empty and in anguish.” To be thirsty is to long for love, acceptance, and affirmation. In other words, it is to thirst for a heart-to-heart connection with the living and loving God.

Today’s Scripture

Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.”

Staying connected to God is primary. Wellbeing for everyone comes next.

Efforts to search more diligently, prepare, and make the move are under way.
Hints of spring are coming and with them we hope for a good housing market.

Leaving the state I call home has some tough aspects, but the prospect that both Erich and I will have an easier and more convenient life in the new location are very tempting and necessary. His college education is not being put to use here.

Joan Duffy’s funeral is this morning at 11 am. She was 83.

Prayers for Gloria, Larry, Jill, and Becky; Marcy and Mary, Julie and Megan,
Andrea and Lowell, Connie and her husband, Betsy, Grace, Kelsey and Harrison; all who come to the UR.

I’m still on a shared computer, thankful that I can still come to the UR.

May God’s wisdom and guidance come to the UMC General Conference as the church deals with homosexuality.

Thank you dear Julie for your prayers and encouragement!

May Julie’s situation improve and may God enable her to rise up and live a meaningful life and use her mightily!

I have been unable to access this comments section for 2 days, so I have thirsted for this community and the welcome words of support and Christian insight offered here. I agree with Mary, I thirst for a closer and more personal relationship with God. I also thirst for meaning to my life. I feel useless with my limited abilities during the cold weather.
Prayers for Robert as he struggles with the necessary move.
Prayers for Mary, may others benefit from her joy and warm spirit.
Prayers for Marcy, may she be well and in less pain.
Prayers for Connie, my kindred soul, may her soul be refreshed today.
Prayers for Andrea and Lowell, may they have full healing soon.
Prayers for Edy and Bill, may hee have surgery soon.
Prayers for Lou and her children, may they all be adjusting well.
Prayers for Besty and her family, may all members be healthy.
Prayers for Jill, may she be imparting her peace to Gloria and Larry.
Prayers and blessings and warm hugs dear UR family and thank you for your prayers

Julie, yesterday I tried many times to read and post too but couldn’t until much later.

      I think something is wrong.

Hope it will be restored soon.
