Wake-Up CallNew Every Morning | December 11, 2021
When we feel that God is asking us to do something important or we feel God’s call to serve or to help others, we want to be at our best. Just as we would want to give our best to our boss or company, we should offer no less to God. Faith is what keeps us alive and awake, and when we freshen our faith through service and dedication to the things of God, we are made all the bolder and more vibrant in our abilities to focus on the tasks God has laid before us.
Today, give your best effort when you help a neighbor or when you are listening to someone who is looking for advice or a confidant. Staying fresh and alert is just another way of remaining hopeful and faithful in our journey with God.

Stay in touch with God and everything needed to do God’s work will be at hand. Have missed a few days here, not sure why, not intentional. Christmas cards going out, have more to do. Need to review this week’s posts so I.can respond. Infections spiking and winter weather watch posted. Sadly VT made Covid. News with unvaccinated people overwhelming hospitals. Stay safe.
A lot going on with the NEM family. Snow making has been a part of skiing in the Northeast for a while. It is a very noticeable part of climate change. Bretton Woods opened Nov 26 with 4 trails.
That was early even in the old days when only natural snow was on the slopes. I don’t ski anymore, but Erich could ski year round if that was possible. The housing market here is red hot if you are selling, but normally this time of year is not the best time to sell. Few people want to move in the winter. Covid spike here too. The unvaccinated minority have hospitals overwhelmed. Yes, it’s embarrassing making a mistake as a teacher, BUT we’re human too. Sure glad I never taught math. Hope David is ok after that fall, does he have a walker? Prayers for disability paperwork success, a good job with health benefits, and fair, equitable and good mediation. Great Jeremy is coming home, hope care funding is worked out. Thankful Roger knows he is being cared for, prayers for success. YES, WE ALL MISS FORMER POSTERS. Marcy gave us such great hope despite her tough circumstances. It’s around freezing sleet/snow mix followed by rain. It’s on the way, gray, cloudy foggy weather here now. Whether you are UP or DOWN I’m glad to know how you are. God is with you. Thank You, Lord.
I always try to do my best and give my all in all that I do.
While I was on another call yesterday afternoon, I received a call I ignored. It was from the place where Megan works and this person said if I won’t work funky hours then they have no place for me. I had been told that I should think about it and they would get back to me. I quickly called back but that person had left for the day. So I called the person I had spoken to last Friday and told her I would take the hours they had and we even discussed three twelve hour days, which I would take,. I am hoping one of those days could coincide with Megan’s days off. I am also going to call first thing Monday to inquire again. But in the meantime I will speak to my friend at church and see what my prospects are with the job she told me about. Since this occurred in church I am hoping this is God’s true will for me. Please continue to pray for me.
Prayers for Ally’s disability application and finances to pay the vet bill, for David to regain his equalibrium so he is not prone to falls, for Jeremy to remain home and healthy, for Roger’s body to respond to the insulin, for Jill to be successful with the sugar value curve, for Larry’s anxiety, for Lou and her family, and for Robert and Erich to stay safe amid the winter weather and increased Covid numbers in their state. Prayers for Marti and her staff.
Thank you for your prayers and may God bless all who visit here.
Stay in communication with him, as well as with others – attentive to needs. I am not on Facebook any length of time, but when I looked at it last night, the former leader of the Young Moms group had posted about one of the moms who could use some help this Christmas season. I could have kept scrolling, but I took a moment to message the leader and got some info on helping. Little things like this are one way to stay open to the movement of the Spirit and do simple things to assist the Kingdom moving forward. The leader would not have put this out there if she felt the money would be mismanaged. The mom is working, has some little ones, and her mom is on death’s door.
Unfortunately, so far today, Roger’s numbers are higher than they were two weeks ago. He got very sick last night, but is acting ok. He is already tired of me drawing the blood from his ears, trying to paw my fingers away each time. We have 4 more draws to go, but he is not happy. The next draw is important, as it will be about 8 hours after his insulin shot, which should be the lowest of the day.
Putting the finishing touches on exams and will do some grading also. Waiting for the cold front to move through. Prayers for all those impacted by this weather system – the numerous tornadoes through the Ohio Valley.
Julie – praying you will know when the right opportunity presents itself.
I try to keep my ears open so I can hear God. Sometimes I get bogged down in my worries. Reading scripture and talking with my spiritual benefactors help me through the times when it feels my ears are not hearing.
David has been having esophageal spasms due to severe reflux. He’s had a bad morning, but is better now. He sees his Dr. on 12/21. I’ve been reading up on this condition and there are treatments. Jeremy has a respiratory thing going on. He’s sneezing and has some mild congestion. He’s on antibiotics for his urinary issues. He displayed a couple of symptoms of his problem. I talked to his vet, who said to push fluids to keep him making urine. I’m giving him water by syringe and canned food. He’s slept a lot today, but is up now. I hope he’s feeling better. He seems to be.
Robert, I’m praying for Vermont. Georgia is not spiking yet, but I’m sure it’s coming. Only about 20% of our population has had all 3 shots. David is using a cane, but often forgets to grab it when walking. He is doing his PT exercises. Julie, praying your job works out. Praying about your mediation too. Jill, praying for little Roger, that his numbers have come down and he is moving in the right direction. Prayers for Larry, that his anxiety about the move to Florida will ease. Please don’t beat yourself up over the mistake in your board work. I know you are an amazing teacher.
Prayers for those in the path of the storms and for the loved ones of those who lost their lives. Its moving through our area now. Its lost a lot of its punch. I grew in the heart of the Dixie Alley tornado belt. My heart goes out to the victims and all impacted. Praying bad all continue to wait with hope.
