New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Often people will tell me that they don’t need to pray at specific times because they speak with God all the time. I have little doubt that God is always with us, but the quality of our ongoing conversation depends mostly on whether we set aside time on a regular basis to be together. We will pray always if we pray intentionally sometimes. If we want to deepen our prayer lives, we must create a space to be with God.

Today’s Question

Look at your daily schedule. How might you add more time to be with God? Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

During those days [Jesus] went out to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God.
—Luke 6:12 (NRSVUE)
