New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

One might describe Howard Thurman as a nature mystic. To nature mystics like Thurman, divinity fills the world. Grace courses through your cells and soul, through summer breezes on hot August days, in the chirping of cicadas, and in the sap of oak trees. . . .  All things find their origins and goal in the Spirit breathing through all things.

—Bruce G. Epperly, The Mystic in You: Discovering a God-Filled World (Upper Room Books, 2017)

Today’s Question

What sights and sounds in nature help you sense the presence of God?

Today’s Scripture

Heaven is declaring God’s glory;
the sky is proclaiming his handiwork.

Prayer for the Week

God who guides us in the quest for justice, awaken my heart to growing edges in my life and in the healing of the world. Amen.

Waterfalls, babbling brooks, and mist rising up from valleys (super quiet) help me sense the presence of God. Off to strawberry hulling soon.
Will pick up bread for communion tomorrow.
Have a great weekend, blessed Sunday, Happy Fourth of July. Thankful for the freedoms we still have. Thank You, Lord!

Oh yes, Robert, I love the sounds and sights of waterfalls and babbling brooks. I also love the sight of mountains, especially when covered with the green leaves of trees in summer.
Still adjusting to my new role of caregiver. Please pray that all goes well on Tuesday when h and I go to the lawyer in order for me to be given h’s power of attorney. Not only does h have to cooperate but also the lawyer has to be convinced that h understands what he is signing.
Prayers for Ally and David as David is at the rehab facility and Ally deals with all of the home issues. Prayers for April, Lou and Rick and Scott. Prayers of thanksgiving that Jill has found understanding and compassion regarding her physical condition among her tennis team members. Prayers for Robert as he continues to prepare for leading Sunday’s church service as well as the strawberry shortcake fundraiser. And thank you Robert for your service to maintain my freedom so that I can continue to celebrate the fourth of July.

The flowers blooming and birds singing remind me of God’s creations and presence. I have been getting up early and going outside to work in the yard. We have 2 families of baby ducks in the pond that I love to watch. Tomorrow I will plant pink and white zinnias.
Yes Robert, we are all caregivers. I pray for You Julie as you take on more responsibility with h. I pray for support for you Ally as David recovers and you learn how to care for him. Jill, isn’t it wonderful to feel heard by another and know that you will work together. Lou, patenting never ends, and oh the joys of each stage of a family. Robert, you have inspired me to make strawberry shortcake and will share with our neighbors. Prayers for a great service tomorrow and your thoughtful message. Rick and Scott, I pray for guidance in your way forward.
This weekend of the 4th is all about freedom, with God and with our country. Thank you Lord for all your blessings.

Snow capped mountains astound me. Pelicans flying low over a calm ocean in the Carolinas soothe my soul. Pansies bring a smile to my face, especially when I see them in a warmer climate during the “winter” months, when all is barren at home.
Julie – am praying for your interactions with h and for his upcoming mental state during trip to lawyers. May you be heard and understood and the right course of action be taken. Praying for Ally and David on this stage of the road to recovery.
A beautiful summer day here – with an enjoyable tennis match with our doubles buddies outside. I don’t enjoy playing tennis outside usually, but it was quite pleasant today. Came home, showered and napped and just finished an early dinner – pizza carryout from just up the road. Settling in to watch Wimbledon and have a quiet rest of the day.
Today is my sister’s birthday. Our celebration together got postponed due to Don’s skin graft on his ear. He is in a fair amount of pain. Becky will be happy to spend the day at home. She enjoys watching Wimbledon also, and her youngest son and his wife are going to stop by later.
