Today’s Reflection
FROM DEEP WITHIN ourselves we sense a desire to engage in right actions, to make wise choices, to live in a fruitful manner. Then from beyond ourselves we begin to hear, “Look, there is a way you can follow that leads toward greater understanding. There are steps you can take that will open you to the clarity you seek.” We stand before the forest of our own wonderings. Then bit by bit, we become aware of a path through the forest.
Many of us have caught hints of this path in simple practices we learned during our earliest years or picked up from persons wiser than ourselves. We make a decision but then say, “I’m going to sleep on it.” Somewhere we gleaned the wisdom that a good night’s rest brings fresh vision. We struggle with a difficult choice and say, “I really need the perspective of a trusted friend,” or “I am going to take time to consider where my decision might lead in the long run.” When we engage in such practices, we do so with the sense that there is at least a partial path through our wondering.

Don’t necessarily intend to be redundant…but I immediately think of the “three taps” again…prayer, His Word and community. When thinking of community I think of a few trusted confidants or a person I know who went through a similar experience. I absolutely know He places people in our lives to assist us on our path.
I am grateful for the remaining time before school starts…to just lazily lay around, reading and napping with no concern for time. Grateful for my very healthy flowers – going strong in to August thanks to above average rainfall in June (especially) and July.
Last week my sister and I went through the last of mom’s things. We tackled most of her clothing the day after the funeral and then had put off finishing up. Dad asked us to clear the remaining stuff out of their closet. There are a few significant pieces of jewelry we are going to take for ourselves. We are offering the remaining pieces to her grand daughters (in law) and her great granddaughter. Dad got a little choked up as we found hand made cards and other things she had squirreled away in a few places. One bracelet in particular – I have loved it forever – my sister wasn’t interested in it and I took it. I wore it to church on Sunday. I just love it. It’s not an expensive piece, but one I will treasure and wear proudly.
Great questions the last two days am struggling for answers. Praying for God’s wisdom to help with answers. Look and you will find, knock and it will be opened unto you
Bible Study on Ephesians continues today.
Prayers for those in pain: Anneliese, Meesook, Julie, and Marcy come first to mind, but certainly all who hurt.
Prayers for Doris having surgery for stage 4 lung cancer today. She had been battling leukemia, then lung cancer showed up.
Thankful Erich’s skin problems are going away, AC, TLC, and time have helped him. Thank You, Lord.
Jill, I share your sentiments about your Mom’s, my Mom’s, things. The actual value of the item means far less than the fact that it was my Mom’s.
Thank You, Lord, that we are your children. Cared for and loved by You.
