New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

THE ATTENTIVENESS that allows us to be present to nature and to each other awakens in us a sense of wonder. Here small children have much to teach us. Children are blessed with a natural sense of wonder and often become absorbed for long periods in the presence of natural things. A spirituality of simplicity will affirm children in their attention to creation. But it will also recognize the child in each of us who wants to observe, play, and live fully in the marvelous world of God’s making.

—Elizabeth J. Canham, The Wondrous Mystery: An Advent Reader (Upper Room Books, 2019)

Being intentional about taking time, even a moment here and there while at school. And being aware of having a grateful heart. To notice what occurs in my brain when on auto-pilot and to monitor those thoughts…quickly replacing frustration/aggravation with positivity and gratitude.
Attended an evening service last night at one of the churches that has a cancer support group. The sermon was on the simplicity (but not the easiness) of obedience. And the pastor stressed that our obedience is based on our level of trust in God – His will, His ways. Much to take to Him in prayer – need to ask Him to reveal where He views my level of obedience and trust – and to guide me to more of both.

I should pray more often, take more time to listen. God had helped me through some times that were a struggle for me. I am very thankful.

Am at the point where I only need to glue the remaining pieces of roadbed in place, then sand and shape them, before installing the track.

Church today, a guest pastor since our pastor is on a family trip celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary. Prayers for a safe trip.

Prayers for Mary’s ear. Have had that problem, hope, pray it is resolved soon.

    Blessings as Advent approaches.
