New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

The Gospel of Matthew reminds us that following Jesus might sometimes mean stepping out of our comfortable boat of the familiar into the fluid and uncertain reality of life. …
Following Jesus is risky. We probably will have to step out of our comfort zones. And loving the world with God is iffy business. We will face frustrations, questions, and discouragement. What if we give our time and energy to others in need, but we don’t see any results? What if we work hard for mercy and justice, and it doesn’t seem to make a difference? What if we get up at four o’clock in the morning to provide breakfast at a shelter, and no one thanks us? What if we spend all day building a wheelchair ramp for an elderly couple, and they never smile at us? What if we go to Guatemala to build a clinic, but we come back with an infection? What if we follow Jesus into the world to share the mercy and love of God, and it just doesn’t look like the kingdom has come?

We take risks when we step out in faith to do what Jesus asks us to do. Peter discovered this as his trust faltered and he begin to sink when he stepped out of the boat, with Jesus in front of him, asking Peter to trust and come toward him. We lose our courage, knowing we can trust God.
Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is hatred, help us to sow love.
David has an appt. with the urologist tomorrow to check his PSA. We are praying there will be no need for a biopsy. We miss little Lewis and Scout Finch terribly. Prayers for Jeremy, as he’s been dealing with urinary issues. I’m still learning to work my business and become detail-minded person. I’m struggling with the pinched nerve in my neck/upper back again. I can’t rest. If I do, everything goes undone.
Remembering the victims of the shootings in Nashville. It’s very sad that some Christians are blaming the trans community for this tragedy.

What if I share His love and mercy…He will be pleased. It is a call to obedience which I cannot neglect.
Small group tonight will be combined on zoom with another group. Both group leaders are vacationing together – so will zoom in on one computer. They have asked me to “steer the ship” as the other co-facilitator is also new and not quite as comfortable. The two vacationing are hoping the internet is sufficient.
Getting things accomplished at school – as things wind down towards spring break – in another week or so. My second year students continue to work fairly diligently in preparation for their exams beginning in May. They appreciate being able to work through previous years exams.

Out and about a lot yesterday, very late posting. Thankful for resources that enable bill payment. Made the switch from snowshoeing to walking with sneakers. Still have piles of snow, but the sidewalks are all bare and dry.
Sharing God’s love with a nonbeliever who doesn’t understand, accept is disappointing, but I keep trying. There is a plan and so far so good. Have to keep going, the goal isn’t reached if you stop trying.
Yes, Ally the loss of beloved pets is tough, Hope Jeremy is helped. Pearl has a checkup on Monday.
Good news from Jill’s school and her students, very encouraging.

Prayers for Anneliese in terrible pain due to a variety of conditions under the umbrella of Neuropathy. Doctors seem very challenged in their effort to help.
Thank you all for your posts, they enable my prayers. Thank You, Lord.
