New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Confession offers us the gift of imagining ourselves responding differently in certain situations while at the same time reminding us that most of us do not always act like the people we would like to be. When received with love and grace, our confessions can actually lead us toward our dreams. They can lead us to our true voice and power. Perhaps the function of confession is to help us say real and vulnerable words to one another.

Today’s Scripture

Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.

I think of the old adage, “confession is good for the soul”. And how does this relate to our dreams of who we want to become? If our dream is to be real and authentic, confession must be a part of the process. Necessary to be well with our souls, and the the only way for our relationships to be more than surface things, we must be real and authentic.
Please pray for a dear friend and her family who were my neighbors when I lived in Roman GA. They lost their oldest son last night. He was a troubled young man. My heart breaks for him and his family. Lord, help us to be authentic in our interactions today: with You Lord, and with our people.

It can deepen our relationships by allowing us to be authentic with our friends. We gain their love and their wisdom by showing them our weaknesses and vulnerabilities. We must be open to their correction and wise counsel, learning from their past mistakes.

By being vulnerable with others – we let them know that we trust them, as well as respecting their words which they would thoughtfully share. If our dream is to be more Christ-like – confession swings wide open the door for meaningful conversation and healing.
It is so wonderful to be back in school. It is great to not have a mask on and to let me students see my smile and facial expressions from the get go. I am especially appreciative – being able to start the school year with them – when that was in doubt with my surgery.
Very busy weekend ahead…golfing with dad tomorrow and then my god son’s birthday party. Sunday – we are throwing an early 90th birthday party for dad, as he will be in Florida on his big day.
