New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

DIVINE MYSTERY, the people who have walked in darkness have seen a great light.
Oh, come to us, abide with us.
Loving Mystery, you have lifted every sorrow, fear, and hatred that weighs us down.
Oh, come to us, abide with us.
Living Mystery, you have trampled the powers of death that oppress your people.
Oh, come to us, abide with us.
Faithful Mystery, you sent into the world as a child your Son, the Prince of peace.
Oh, come to us, abide with us.
Powerful Mystery, through Jesus, you have established justice and righteousness on the earth.
Oh, come to us, abide with us.
Eternal Mystery, glory to you in the highest heaven.
Oh, come to us, abide with us.
Gentle Mystery, let your peace fill all the earth.
Oh, come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel. Amen.

God lives through me by enabling me to donate blood today and listening to the sharing of the lives of a few blood donars.

Thank you God for good health and the joy of treating another student to lunch today.

Thank you God that there are many ways You can live through us. Thank you for the many blessings you have given us so that we can share with others.

    Blessings to all!

God lives through my love for my family and that I show others that they matter to me.
H came to me yesterday and asked for a “separation.” He indicated that he thought I would move back to my hometown. I, however, told him that I intend to stay in this area, Pitttsburgh. He tried again and again. He gave me the distinct impression that he felt that by calling it a “separation” I would just pack a bag and leave and he could just live his life completely unaffected. I would just vanish. I indicated that I would need money to live on, etc. Apparently that was not his plan. I corrected his thoughts, much to his dismay.
Prayers for Mary who gives so much each and every day.
Prayers for Robert and Erich and Robert’s daughter and granddaughters. May they have a wonderful visit.
Prayers for Andrea and Lowell and har sister in law Marcy. May Lowell and Marcy’s health improve.
Prayers for Connie and her family, may I learn from her to notice the little pleasures of each day.
Prayers for Lou and her children, may they have a wonderful visit.
Prayers for Betsy and her friend Kathy and her sons.
Prayers for April and her family, may they have a wonderful new year.

God lives through me in my life by guiding me and always, always, answering my prayers. He guided a tense situation this week and made “all things well”.
    Thankful for:
    A productive day yesterday.
A light snowfall and only a little ice.
I am now receiving my Upper Room Daily Devotional and for that I am so happy.
As I go into the New Year it is my goal to do better in living my faith and contributing to God’s work.

It is snowing lightly and quite icy today, after getting a couple inches of rain here the day after Christmas. The snow flakes are sparse and small, and they make a lazy, winding path as they drift to the ground. Watching from our kitchen window, which looks out over a woods of oak trees falling away to a pond, I feel my spirit settle into a deep peace and an appreciation of the beauty before me.

I am not really able to articulate how God lives through me. I hope to be centered and peaceful, to contribute peace to those around me. I strive also to be cheerful and generous.

Prayers for Betsy’s friend who lost her husband to Alzheimers, and for their children.

Blessings and prayers on this fifth day of Christmas.
