New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Richard Blackaby tells of a pastor who asked his congregation, “What has God placed in your life that you would be willing to place on the altar” in service to God? After struggling with it for some time, an elderly widow offered her cat. The church leaders were perplexed about what to do with a cat. But they called a meeting for anyone else who had a pet they would like to use in service to God. Forty people attended! The church started a new pet ministry that took animals to orphanages, children’s hospitals, and hospice. The church soon became known for its pet ministry, which the pastor said became the greatest outreach ministry of their church. All because one widow offered her cat in service to God.

Help with worship services. Enable Communion, read Scripture, collect offering, deliver a message, or lead worship.

    Happy Father’s Day!

Happy Father’s Day, Robert. I hope you had an enjoyable day.
What I can offer God is a more attentive mind and heart – during my time in the morning, as well as throughout the day. An undivided heart – this needs to be my offering.
Church was very welcome this morning. The pastor got choked up – as it is the 4 year anniversary of losing his father. I wasn’t sure he was going to gather himself, but he did. He said his father’s day was going just fine and then he read a letter from his son (who is 15) – and he said it “wrecked” him. It was pretty obvious he was still fighting his emotions.
Dad, Becky and Don came over after church and we had brunch. Dad requested that we have the same menu we have for Christmas Eve brunch – which includes cinnamon bread from a local bakery which I use for French Toast. Cards ensued and the men had a good day, beating the women 3-1. The guys headed home for the tee off of the leaders of the golf tournament. Becky and I took a walk.
A hectic week ahead, with many appointments and three days of tennis camp put on by my church. Golf in there as well, along with tennis.
