New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

I believe that God offers us nudges in our sleeping dreams, but I believe that we also receive nudges while we are awake. Those nudges take the form of random thoughts that come from nowhere and bid us to telephone an old friend, visit a friend in the assisted living center, pray for a person, send an encouraging note to someone in the community. We do well to pay attention to these seeming bits of random energy and act on them.

—George H. Donigian, In Days to Come: From Advent to Epiphany (Upper Room Books, 2017)

Today’s Scripture

And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they left for their own country by another road.

I think that I received a nudge from God today. I thought about calling my one friend as I prayed for her this morning.
Prayers for Ally and David for improved finances and health, for Ally’s cousin Susan for improved health following her surgery, for Jill’s safe travel and Roger’s health and for Roger’s church as the laity continues to lead the members in worship aaaand for Marti and her staff. Thank you for your prayers and may God bless all who visit here.

Yes, I do believe there are nudges in our dreams in addition to the ones that come in other ways. The nudge to lead worship is one of them. God reached to the Gentiles, the magi, and they came. Besides their precious costly gifts, they helped keep Jesus safe by not returning to Herod.
Prayers for everyone with medical issues. Jonathan has a shunt in his brain that is causing problems, Mickey has mental health issues, Nancy deals with cancer, Roger and Mickey need assisted care, and the list goes on, but God is with each and every one. Thank You, Lord.
Never imagined I would lead worship on Epiphany and help serve Communion, but God does work in mysterious ways. May I be God’s instrument. Happy, HEALTHY, New Year to ALL!

Robert- you sound so happy about leading and assisting in many ways in your church- you are a gift to those in your congregation and to God. It is a delight to witness your joy in volunteering and encourages me to do more in my own church. I always am encouraged by your optimism and spirit. “God loves a cheerful doer”my mother would often say!

I felt a nudge from the Holy Spirit to reach out to those who have been sick or homebound with cards of encouragement. I can’t do much on the financial front, nut when we are in a better place, there are some people I would like to help.
Praying everyone had a nice New Year’s Day.
