New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

This love is the root of the tree of the soul—and our life in God. We cannot have life in God—neither in this life nor in the next—without agape. Just as a tree needs water to survive, our soul cannot survive without this love.

—Christopher Maricle, Deeply Rooted: Knowing Self, Growing in God (Upper Room Books, 2016)

Today’s Scripture

Dear friends, let’s love each other, because love is from God, and everyone who loves is born from God and knows God.

What does my soul need – maybe just a slight reminder of His sovereignty in light of my health. While my symptoms remain consistent with side effects of my treatment, I have a test scheduled two weeks from tomorrow. If this comes back ok, I will be having a conversation with my rheumatologist about switching treatments. While it has been a blessing to be swelling, stiffness and pain free for 4+ months, these current symptoms (side effects?) are impactful in their own way and not consistent with how I want to feel and be active. I try to submit these things to Him daily, acknowledging He is in control. I keep waiting to turn the corner, hoping my body will adjust. But, in reality, they are heightening. Father God – please show me the way forward. Give me wisdom and discernment, based off the news I receive from the test results.
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer Blessed Lord, to Thy precious, bleeding side. Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer Blessed Lord, to the cross where Jesus died.

Don’t have a right away, quick answer to today’s question, but think today’s prayer, “God, give me the humility to know that I am a growing work in progress. Give me the grace and understanding to see the growth in those around me.” is where I am.

ZOOM worship in about an hour and a half. Very thankful for that. Hard to imagine going through this pandemic without computers and internet. It’s been done, but not in our lifetime, 1918 was the last one.

Two failed decals are holding up progress on the combine, slow, careful painting is helping the 79 tonners along. One totally done H.P, Hood & Sons milk car arrived yesterday. A long desired goal, a milk car out of my boyhood home town. This diorama in progress is all possible due to a Phil Hastings photo.

Saw a very sad, based on a true story, movie about a girl, drugged by high school boys, and then raped by all of them. It’s a tough world where God is most definitely needed. She committed suicide.

Jill, hope your test results lead to a better treatment. Good health enables life. I pray for good health for all remembering the issues that UR family members are dealing with. Blessings to all on the Sunday. God is with you. Thank You, Lord.

The tree is securely staked to 3 stakes and standing straight. Thank you Julie for thinking of relationships in addressing the tree problem. How important it is that solving the problem together leads to community, we are all in this together.
A beautiful day today. Walk early and saw a deer eating along the way!! Temps to get higher tomorrow so will make sure they get watered.
Our last of the sermon series on Hope today. It has been good to hear that word for so many weeks. May I never forget that no matter the situation there is always hope….God always has the last word.
Blessings to each in our UR family…..we are each God’s Beloved Child.
