Led by the insights and sometimes enigmatic stories and sermons of Jesus, I became excited by how one person, individually and as a part of a community, can live out genuine alternatives to the dominant culture. For me, this has meant thoughtful, intentional work on issues of race, lifestyle, gender, and parenting. These are large dreams. I did not give birth to them, and they are not completely my own. My passion is life-giving and carries the power of birth. It makes me feel more whole, more connected to my brothers and sisters. It strengthens my belief in prayer and the powerful healing of the Spirit.
