New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Observing, noticing, listening: These practices can keep us from making false assumptions about people and about our mission field. Our ears can keep us from answering questions no one is really asking, so that we can get to the ones they are asking. Listening also wins us favor with folks who generally appreciate it when we take a heartfelt interest in them. Little wonder that Jesus drew others into his mission: They felt heard.

Today’s Scripture

[Jesus] asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?” They stood still, their faces downcast. One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?” “What things?” he asked.
—Luke 24:17-19, NIV

Prayer for the Week

God of love,
plant me in the soil of your grace.
Nurture me with the strength of Christ,
the vine of everlasting life.
Enlighten me with the wisdom of your Spirit,
which flows through me today and all days.
Abide in me,
that I may abide in you
and live in your love.
In your holy name, I pray. Amen.

I try diligently each day to take a heart felt interest in the needs of the clients that I work with. I truly care about each and every person I work with and I think that they feel this. The work has been challenging lately as many are exhausted and anxiety is building as people struggle to see the way out of the year plus of this pandemic. I feel it myself. The work days are long but I thank God for my job and that I usually enjoy what I am blessed to do in my career. I pray that God will enable me to keep up my work and my practice for many more years to come.
I had a wonderful Easter Day starting with a brief outdoor church service that my son attended with me and we saw many of our church friends that we haven’t seen in so long. It was a beautiful day. I’m now looking forward to a visit from my mother and brother – they will travel to my home where I am happy to be able to entertain them and celebrate my mother’s April birthday. It has been over a year since I have seen them. I am looking forward to this reunion. Prayers for their safe travels – they are both in precarious health but they wanted to make this trip to my home and I welcome this effort on their part. I will treat them royally – it is my greatest pleasure to treat my family and to care for them. My son and his girlfriend will be here as well. It has been a long time that we have had had a small gathering – we are all vaccinated and I pray that this a safe thing to do.
I hope you all enjoyed a blessed and happy Easter- may God be with you and walk beside you all today so that you may know his presence and his peace.

I try to do this with every person I encounter. I also watch their body as subtle body language can inform our assessment.
H is going on a vaction with his “friends.” I beleive he pays for everything and they pay for nothing, including their traavels. Recent credit card payments and bank withdrawals support this theory. Megan and I will have a week vacation from him.
Prayers for Lou as she cares for her patients and awaits the wonderful reunion with her family. May all be safe and well.
Prayers for Ally as she job hunts and David as he continues therapy.
Prayers for Jill and Larry as they travel, may they be safe and well.
Prayers for Robert and his church and family, may his church have a smooth transition to a new pastor and may all be safe.
Prayers for Marcy as she continues to heal both physically and emotionally.
Prayers for all of the UR

Most definitely my son, is the center of attention here at home. Thankful for the news from Lou and Julie. Nice To know the news straight away.. Thankful for the good news. Progress is being made. A nice walk this morning, day two of my whole Bible in a year reading, want very much to get into a very settled habit of reading so the goal will be reached. Prep for outdoor spring cleaning, painting the model underbody and interior, getting rid of a couch, checking finances, thankful for resources to pay bills. Positive news about Marcy, very thankful for her progress. Glad Julie has a respite this week. Now that we are reassured of the resurrection of Christ, may we all be fortified to run the race, receive the Holy Spirit, and do our part to end the pandemic. Better spring-like weather here, my walk was on a new trail in a new location. Peace and God’s blessings to the community of faith.
    Thank You, Lord.
