New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

GRANT ME GRACE this day
to rest and remember
that there is nothing I have to do,
nothing I have to buy or sell,
nothing I have to produce or consume
in order to become who I already am:
your beloved creation.
May your overworked creation
and those who cannot rest today
come to know the liberation of your sabbath.

Today’s Scripture

And just as it is appointed for mortals to die once, and after that the judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

Hebrews 9:27-28, NRSV

“Be still and know that I am God.” An awareness of the frenzy of the world is something I need to set aside to truly rest in God. May I disconnect from the news, unwind, and rest in Your stillness and the beauty of Your creation. Yes: “May your overworked creation and those who cannot rest today, come to know the liberation of your sabbath.”

    Blessings and prayers.

This beautiful prayer brought to mind a song by Big Daddy Weave – It’s Already Done. The chorus goes like this…It’s already done, it’s already done. The love of the Father, revealed in the Son. So open your heart up to His kingdom come – and won’t you receive what He’s already done.
Thank You Father for everything Your Son’s life, death and resurrection accomplished. Teach us to rest peacefully in that completed work. Such grace that we are recipients.
When I left school yesterday, it was sunny, but a bit chilly with some wind. I was talking myself in to mowing my yard and cleaning up some of the leaves. I really just wanted to take a nap. But, by the time I arrived home I was ready to don a hat and jacket and get to it. I was so surprised to see a ton of leaves at my curbside. I had done some raking on Sunday, but not that much. When I pulled back to my garage and looked at my back yard – it was immaculate. Some blessed person raked my entire yard, including the area by my back door where leaves swirl and accumulate. Once I saw how perfect that area was – I new someone had intervened. Super GRATEFUL. So – I landed on my couch, under my heated blanket and dozed a bit – with Roger on top of me and the blanket. Grateful also to speak with my best friend and hear news of her brother. He suffers terribly with Crohn’s – and was hospitalized Monday. It looks like he won’t have to have surgery – a big praise!

I feel rebuked by this and the many other reflections that urge us to rest in the Lord and listen for His voice and reflect on His word. I NEED to learn to do this and actually TAKE the time to make this a practice.
Prayers of thanks for Jill’s kind angel and that her friend’s brother does not need surgery.
Prayers for Mary and her continued joy.
Prayers for Andrea and her family and their relationships.
Prayers for Robert and Erich. I am grateful for Robert and his wisdom and insights.
Prayers for Connie and I am grateful for her example of a happy marriage.
Prayers for Lou and her family. I am grateful for her daughter’s good grades which allow her to go to college.
Prayers Marcy and I am grateful for her posts and that she has help.
Prayers for April and her family and I am grateful to hear from her.
I am grateful for my kitties who keep me company and give me a sense of being needed.
I am grateful for your prayers and kind words. I continue to seek a job and seek God’s gudance through this stressful situation.
Prayers for all who rest here today among this UR family. May you leave restored

“No rest for the weary” today. Up early and going full steam until noon with many things accomplished! However, now for the rest….Ahhhhhhh. sweet recliner!
    Thankful for:
The bright sunshine. A beautiful golden perfectly shaped tree catching its light.
Smiles at a squirrel who did not recognize peanuts out of the shell. They were small ones from a slice of banana bread (I don’t do well with nuts of any kind anymore)
Happy about Jill’s “Secret” Leafman. Hope our fellow comes today.
Robert, Erich, Annaliese in my thoughts.
