New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

May the One who can scoop the ocean with one hand–
the One who is profoundly present to each grain of sand–
hold you firmly
and carry you gently
this day.

—Sam Hamilton-Poore, Earth Gospel: A Guide to Prayer for God’s Creation (Upper Room Books, 2009)

Today’s Question

How do the ocean and the sand remind you of God’s presence? Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

O LORD God of hosts,
who is as mighty as you, O LORD?
Your faithfulness surrounds you.
You rule the raging of the sea;
when its waves rise, you still them.

—Psalm 89:8-9 (NRSV)

The ocean and sand are, like God, ever present. Sometimes the ocean is further away, sand far less so. For me mountains and water are more familiar and also ever present. I look to the hills, from whence does my help come from.My help comes from the Lord.

Up and away early yesterday to visit my daughter and granddaughters. Took them to the beach and for a visit to gardens, trails in the woods, swings, and fairy village. Stopped at the edge of a lake where they waded in the water. A nice lunch and long drives to and from.

ZOOM breakfast with the pastor today at 8:30.

Prayers you are all safe, needs being met, cares and thanksgiving lifted to God. The love of God is with you always. Thank You, Lord.

The beach is a special place for me…time is unimportant and my senses are heightened. I have a greater awareness of God, His love for me, the provision He provides. I think of the vastness of the ocean and the infinitude of the grains of sand.
Father – surround Megan and Julie in these days ahead with Your comfort and compassion.
Dad’s neck has been bothering him for a few days and it got pretty intense yesterday. He made an appointment with the chiropractor – and I drove him to it. His discomfort was so great we talked about going to the ER. The chiropractor was able to do some manipulation, but dad was in a lot of pain. The night before he was unable to sleep in his bed. Last week he got a recliner – and he was able to fall asleep in it in the early morning hours. I did not get a call overnight, so I am hoping he was able to rest. My sister is having a cookout tonight and invited dad and me over – we will see if he feels up to it.
