God’s AffectionNew Every Morning | April 11, 2021
However slow progress may feel at times, we take fresh encouragement from the reality that God is the One who is initiating. We are not the primary carriers of the good news; God is the One who is whispering the hope of a purposeful and abundant life into the hearts of people. God is the One who creates a heartfelt hunger for forgiveness, justice, reconciliation, and healing. God has set God’s affections upon our neighbors and communities long before we showed up. Acknowledging that work is how we plant like Jesus.

Prayer for the Week
God of love,
plant me in the soil of your grace.
Nurture me with the strength of Christ,
the vine of everlasting life.
Enlighten me with the wisdom of your Spirit,
which flows through me today and all days.
Abide in me,
that I may abide in you
and live in your love.
In your holy name, I pray. Amen.

I’m reading the NRSV Bible. I have read parts of the CEB and someday will buy one. I’m still in Genesis, Isaac has just married Rebekah,. Prayers for peace while h is gone, hope Ally’s thumb heals well, without complications, glad David has progressed past the need for home health care, and Marcy is making progress. Prayers for Lou’s family reunion and safe travels in Florida for Larry, Jill, and Becky. Progress here one day, turmoil the next. The old couch is out, new one on the way, All calm Saturday and now. Communion this morning, I need to go to the store for grape juice and bread.. So glad I can catch up looking at prior posts. Have a blessed Sunday, stay well and safe. Thank You, Lord.
Prayer for the week is beautiful this week
Abide in me – that I may abide in you.
The closing him in the online church service this morning was Abide With Me- one of my favorites. God is near.
My brother brought my 85 year old mother to visit and we had a grand time. Everyone feeling good and in good spirits. My son and his girlfriend were here a good deal which made my mother (and me) so happy. It was so wonderful to be together – all of us vaccinated and hoping it was the right thing to do with a very small gathering. I was so happy to have everyone at my house – a lot of work but so worth it.
Thankful for family that loves and supports me and my children- I know that I am loved. And they are very loved by me. I’m cognizant of the fact that my mother has aged over the past year and I pray that we still have many wonderful visits together. Thankful for family- I sorely miss my other two children.
Thankful for the prayers offered here on my behalf. Prayers for all here at the UR – may you all know the joy that comes from the love of your families- whether it is your biological family, church family, or friend family – family love comes in many varieties.
