New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

As we consider life’s difficulties and challenges, we may lean into God’s strength. As we ponder the seemingly insurmountable burdens of grief, poverty, or broken relationships, we may take solace in the promise that these mountains can be encountered and crossed. Or as we consider any dark time or any difficult experience we may face, it is helpful to know that these times will not last forever. God will see us through.

Today’s Question

How has God sustained you through the mountains and valleys of your life? Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

“Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low;
the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain.”
—Isaiah 40:4 (NRSVUE)

Prayer for the Week

Creator God, as you have made all things, I know you are still creating in me too. You are not finished working on me. Thank you for your patience throughout the seasons of my life, and I pray that I may offer beauty, comfort, relief, joy, and strength to those I encounter today. Help me to rely upon your counsel through all of the adversity of my life. Amen.

    God has seen me through many medical emergencies including several that had the doctors in awe that I had survived at all.
    Hopefully h is receiving needed rehab to recover from his broken hip. There are few people at the nursing home this week, so no one to call for updates. He needs to regain mobility in order to come home.
