New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

When God Stepped In

In with the “in crowd,”
I lived the high life.
People looked up to me.
I answered to no one.
I was popular.

I was above everybody.
I was too cool for God.
I was a fortress.
I didn’t need anyone.
I was wrong.

God stepped in,
showed me the way,
came into my life,
loved me.
I was saved.

Now the glory is God’s.
And I am a servant.
If I thought life was good before,
now it’s even better.

On the road home today, it has been a good visit with my sister.

Prayers for high school and all students. They are the future, may they learn well. May spiritual growth be a goal they strive to achieve.

Peace be with you. I hope for a more focused post tomorrow.

I pray for my god-daughter this morning. She is a sophomore. She is very social, very outgoing, wears pretty much every emotion on her sleeve. Most of the time this is a very good thing. But when it isn’t, it can get ugly. She is playing on the JV tennis team at her school and doing very well, considering she just started playing in July. She and her doubles partner were undefeated until Tuesday. They came up against a better team, and my god-daughter got in her own head and psyched herself out. Moping followed. Her mother, my best friend, wasn’t taking any of it. Later that evening she approached her mom and said she needed to be at school the next day a half hour early. She wanted to join a club – Fellowship of Christian Students. Her mom grabbed that opportunity to address many things and talk about how her walk, her talk, her attitude, her composure need to reflect Christ – always. My best friend – for never wanting to have kids – is doing an amazing job with her two. She is firm, she is real and, as I have said before, a fierce lover.
Grateful to spend a pleasant few hours outdoors at my god-daughter’s tennis match yesterday after school. Beautiful late summer sunshine – just right temps. Grateful for small group last evening. There are three younger ladies in my small group – all are doing foster care. A significant week lies ahead for all of them, as they have meetings, await paperwork, etc. A joy to see their intense commitment to this calling.

I pray for the teenagers this day. There is so much pulling at them-social media, peer pressure, etc. Help them, Lord, to turn to you for support in how to maneuver their lives.
Grateful yesterday for phone time with a sister and my daughter, paperwork accomplished and sent off, and still time to rest awhile with a good book. Preparing for a short trip with good friends from back home, so errands and laundry to do today. The people in the Carolinas are on my heart still as they begin the tough job of clean up after Hurricane Florence. Keep all safe and strong, Father.

Praying for all students – may they bee humble and teachable, may they experience the love and power of God and may they glorify God. May they also be blessed with the joy of salvation.

    Blessings!

I have a special teenager, a dear friend’s Grandson, who I care about very much. He is sweet, kind and I pray for him and the whole family often. We need to support our teenagers-my children had “second families” when they were in high school, neighbors and friends who supported them and I will always be ever grateful.
    Thankful for:
    This day.
