New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

I have become the person I am today because of my wounds and their healing by the Holy One. I believe that my creativity, my capacity for empathy, and my resilience are gifts from my wounding and healing. I now am able to offer these gifts back to the world. I am grateful for the grace that others have given me as I have moved through the healing of my wounds toward becoming “a new creation.” May I offer that same grace to others.

—Beth A. Richardson, Walking in the Wilderness: Seeking God During Lent (Upper Room Books, 2020)

Today’s Question

How have your wounds and their healing led you to become “a new creation”? Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; look, new things have come into being!
—2 Corinthians 5:17 (NRSVUE)

Prayer for the Week

Holy One, my body, soul, and spirit hunger and thirst for you. Here in this barren wilderness, fill me with your living water. Shape me into the one you would have me become. Amen.

Yes, oh, yes, wounds and healing have helped me come closer to becoming “a new creation”. Looking back, slowly and steadily I was nudged, tugged, toward God. God healed the wound in my heart when my wife passed away, faith was deepened. Subsequent wounds have lead me where I am now and through book/Bible study I am still growing. Thank You, Lord.
Bright sun, temperatures will warm up. Off to the slopes while there is still snow. Machine groomed frozen granular, skiable, snow. Paid off the car, working next on the last credit card. Waiting for the
housing market to improve. Thankful all of this is possible. Blessings to all NEM.

I feel others have been wounded far worse than I have in life. I believe God has blessed me with becoming a new person -a new creation – despite my own foibles and misguidedness in my life If I have wounds I’m convinced they are of my own making. Bless you, Lord, for loving me through it all. May I honor your “new commandment” and love as you have loved us – with agape love.

Thanks so much to all who visit here who have prayed for David and me. David saw the orthopedic doctor yesterday. His knee has no fractures but he has a bone bruise. Healing takes 1-2 months. He also has some arthritis in that knee. Please pray also for my sweet cousin, who has been diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer. She has tumors in her pancreas and lungs as well. Her team is still trying to identify the primary site. Her name is Lauren and she’s only 37. She has 3 little boys, a husband, and a mom, who is same age as me. Pray for healing and for her extended family, who love her much.
The wounds I have experienced have been like the refiners fire and launderer’s soap in Malachi 3. It can be a really painful process of healing. There are times when I feel I have been refined enough and just want to feel joy again. As a mental health professional, I understand that recovery means one believes they will come out on the other side of the pain to find wellness. I truly want to feel hope and joy again. I try to hold onto Hope.
Rusty, I agree with you in thanking God for loving us. I pray to feel that love in my heart, as I know in my head that love is there.
Like Lou, I pray Robert is well and we hear from him soon. Lou and Jill, I am thankful the storms passed through and that y’all are safe. Praying for Julie, Andrea, April, and all who persevere as caregivers. May you feel God’s love today.
I want to feel joy again. May it be so, Lord. .
