Today’s Reflection
Christian practices that incorporate everyday gestures and actions typically involve our bodies: We speak, sing, eat, wash, or bow. We walk. By investing these gestures with new meanings, Christian practices shift our way of being in the world. The Incarnation means that God invites us to experience our physical, embodied existence as a dwelling place of the holy.
—Thomas R. Hawkins, Every Step a Prayer: Walking as Spiritual Practice (Upper Room Books, 2016)

Today’s Scripture
I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Um, right now I do not feel that this broken body is God’s dwelling place. I must have pulled a muscle in my thigh because now I can barely walk after sitting. Megan commanded me to call my doctor first thing this morning…but I have an appointment next week so I will wait. Mostly concerned that I am still experiencing stomach issues which sent me to the hospital.
Prayers for improved health for Ally and David and kitties Jeremy and Roger. Prayers for safety for Jill as Covid ravishes schools. Prayers for God to lead Robert and his fellow lay leaders of his church. Thank you for your prayers and may God bless all who visit here.
I feel like the pleasant simple gesture of smiling and receiving a smile is so lost in this world of masking. At school – so much is lost with facial gestures hidden. I aim to be more demonstrative, in order to make up for this – but not sure my students recognize it. I try to be more intentional about sustained eye contact.
We did get a snow day today, found out last evening around 6. Grateful for it. My god son’s basketball game remains on schedule this evening, despite both schools being closed today. I figure, with cancellations due to Covid, they try to play as many as they can.
Sun was out very nicely, so after my second nap of the day (such indulgence) I went out for a brisk walk. Will fix my dinner and then be off to the game.
