Today’s Reflection
SOMETIMES the Spirit leads us to a mountaintop where we catch a glimpse of God’s glory and know with unquestioned assurance that the one we follow is the Son of God. Now and then we experience Christ robed in dazzling white and feel the presence of saints who have gone before us. Along the pathway of discipleship, we encounter wonder-filled moments of spiritual awareness that revolutionize our lives and transfigure the way we see the world around us. Like Peter, we desperately long to take up residence in that place or to hold on to it forever. We may be tempted to expect every moment of our life to be filled with an extraordinary sense of glory, assurance, and peace.
But then we come down from the mountain and walk through the world where Jesus walked and where the risen Christ promised to meet us.

I have experienced wonder-filled moments of spiritual awareness and “transfiguration of the way I see the world” (I like that phrase of the author’s) many times over my 17 year Christian journey. The first was in my 40’s when I realized God was real. I was seeking (thanks to the Holy Spirit) and he tapped me on the shoulder and let me know, “I’ve always been here with you.” That, of course, transfigured my world. Since then, it happens, not by rote or according to any pattern, but when I am attentive, I can realize (again, thanks to the Holy Spirit) that he is still here with me every moment of my life. And sometimes, often when I least expect it, my world is transfigured yet again. The beauty of it – or at least one beauty – is that each transfiguration is unique. Again, no pattern. God is infinite.
Everyday Bible reading.
Meeting with other believers for discussion. Walking in the neighborhood. Being outside. Visiting with the cat.
That he is with me. That he’s in the details. That he is always there for me.
Amen Carol! I have never had a moment when I felt God near me. But I know He is with me always or I do not feel I would still be on this earth.

I meant, may you bless Julie, her cat and her family!
Prayer, going to church, daily walks, and faith sustain me in the valleys.
Thankful for a trip to the area where I grew up and a visit with a longtime Central Vermont Raileay Historical Society member home from the hospital after bouts with the flu and pneumonia. A lot has changed since I last lived in that area. I still know my way around.
Am still very troubled by the results of the special conference of the UMC. I think the 6 relevant passages from the Bible need to be examined more closely and better understood.
Thankful the condo is sold and a plan is being made to help Anneliese with the serious spine related problems. Taxes are done, I rendered unto Caesar what is his. Now progress toward the move is the goal. Sad to leave my “home” state, but economics and opportunity require it. Thankfully I’m not moving so far away. Visits are still very much possible.
Prayers for the needs and concerns of the UR family continue. Especially ones related to health, wellness, and hospice care. Hopefully the current shared computer situation will soon be resolved and I can more easily participate daily. Blessings and God’s peace to you all.
