New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

We can live in connection with the God who wants to give us grace, help, forgiveness, salvation. There is a human temptation to keep God at a distance. And yet, to be a Christian is to admit that we need a Savior; it is to say, “I cannot do this on my own.” Here is the good news: When we ask for help, we discover that God’s grace is present in our weakness and that this grace is sufficient. The 12-step approach would say it this way: When we confess that we are powerless, we are connected with an incredible power.

Today’s Scripture

He said to me, “My grace is enough for you, because power is made perfect in weakness.” So I’ll gladly spend my time bragging about my weaknesses so that Christ’s power can rest on me.

I feel like I need to lean into Him more. Draw on His strength. Present my feelings before Him and allow Him to cleanse and transform them.
The memorial service was more challenging for me than I anticipated yesterday. I was so grateful that my close friend went with me. She walked closely beside me during mom’s struggle and was the one who came and sat with me the morning after mom passed. She holds my tears and sits quietly. She did that again yesterday. What a treasure God gifted me with – His hands and feet here. Thank You Father.

I feel that this Reflection as well as scripture would have us lean on God’s strength constantly. He is the giver of our sterngth and leads us in all aspects of life. But specifically for me the situation with h is the largest. I attended Adult Children of Alcoholics meetings which is another 12 step program. I need God’s strength to help me overcome the damage of such an upbriinging.
Prayers for Jill as she continues to mourn for Gloria. Prayers for her friend who gives so freely of herself.
