New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

The Lord is gentle; the Lord is slow to anger; the Lord is gracious. But the Lord is also just. The Lord is also faithful. God gives you space for correction, but you love the delay of judgment more than the amendment of your ways. Have you been bad yesterday? Today be good. Have you gone on in your wickedness today? At any rate change tomorrow. … We cannot deny that God has promised pardon to those who have amended their ways and are converted.

Today’s Scripture

The LORD is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

Prayer for the Week

Try this suggested prayer practice this week:
1. Sit comfortably, close your eyes, and remember that God loves you and you are in God’s presence.
2. Imagine God calling you by name, asking “(Your name), what do you want?”
3. Answer God honestly with whatever word or phrase comes from deep within you.
4. Call God by name, a name you frequently use for God.
5. Combine your name for God with your word or phrase to form a brief prayer that flows smoothly.
Submit your prayer to The Upper Room.

    The Holy Spirit is drawing me out of my concern for dad and forward to face what lies ahead. I have a strong assurance that God travels alongside me. And while the road might be rough and full of unexpected twists and turns, He remains, He is the constant. There will be sorrow and struggle, but He is always there. I must continually re-orient myself to Him, when concerns try to drag me away.
    Dad and I had a nice day together yesterday. The weather was incredible…warmth from the sun with no breeze. We soaked it up. We had dinner outside at a favorite bbq restaurant of ours and finished it off with ice cream. Grateful to share this time with him.
    Another warm day today – will get the windows open for Roger. Depending on how school work goes, following church, I likely need to spend some time raking. I have tennis this evening.

    The Lord is Rich and Merciful

    1 The Lord is rich and merciful,
    The Lord is very kind;
    O come to Him, come now to Him,
    With a believing mind:
    His comforts they shall strengthen thee,
    Like flowing waters cool;
    And He shall for thy spirit be
    A fountain ever full.

    2 The Lord is glorious and strong,
    Our God is very high;
    O trust in Him, trust now in Him,
    And have security:
    He shall be to thee like the sea,
    And thou shalt surely feel
    His wind, that bloweth healthily
    Thy sicknesses to heal.

    3 The Lord is wonderful and wise,
    As all the ages tell;
    O learn of Him, learn now of Him,
    Then with thee it is well;
    And with His light thou shalt be blest,
    Therein to work and live;
    And He shall be to thee a rest
    When evening hours arrive.

    Amen.
