Today’s Reflection
Yours the seed, yours the growth;
yours the water, yours the thirst;
yours the wild, yours the tame.
You are within me, O God,
and within all creation—
and you are beyond.
Shape and fill me this day
and all creation
with your grace.
—Sam Hamilton-Poore, Earth Gospel: A Guide to Prayer for God’s Creation (Upper Room Books, 2009)

The grace from God which I feel would be most helpful right now would be the trust and confidence that I will continue to sense His peace when my dad’s health begins to fail. He has been bothered by a stiff neck this week and it got so bad on Thursday, there was talk of taking him to the ER. And that just opened up a flood of thoughts and emotions in my brain which was unhealthy. It is only because of His grace that those thought patterns have been minimized. And it will be only by His grace that they are curtailed and minimal in the future. I took him to the chiropractor Thursday afternoon and he got some relief. Yesterday, the discomfort moved down into his lower back also. Dad did join me and my nephews at my sister’s last night for a cookout. He was able to drive himself – but he is still stiff and uncomfortable. He goes back to the chiropractor on Monday.
Father – thank You for Your mercy and grace. It blankets us and we are unaware. Thank You for Your protection, Your angels of mercy which fight for us. Father – lead us deeper into Your love, Your kingdom work, Your purpose for our lives.
While I know God is with me always and I couldn’t ask for better company, there is this wish there was someone in my life yearning. Watched this short, 12 episode, drama about two young people who struggled over an 8 year period. While not 100% for sure, the story ends with them meeting as they cross a street. The man believed in fate. Unsure of how I feel about fate, I did meet Soo Ok twice. First when she worked in a stamp collecting shop (I bought stamps and postcards) and then 3 years later when I taught at Seoul Foreign School. It will be 23 years November 17th since she passed away and 50 years since I first bought stamps and postcards. Love endures. Thankful God enables us to remember.
It’s a tough reality that we grow old and this life ends, but faith in God keeps us going. One day our heavenly eternal journey will begin. That this life can lead to that outcome is very precious. God’s peace, grace, mercy, and most of all, love, be with you always. Thank You, Lord.
