New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Over the course of our lives, there’s a bridge we must travel to enjoy our deepest, most fulfilling journey of faith in God. This bridge is a pathway of introspection, slow thinking, and prayer before God’s presence.

After a lifetime of communion with God, a life spent petitioning the Lord for deliverance from “the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel” (Ps. 71:4), the psalmist leaves a legacy of faith. His message to us is to trust God throughout the successive phases of life’s journey and the places it takes us.

Today’s Question

How has God sustained you throughout your life? Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

O God, from my youth you have taught me,
and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds.
So even to old age and gray hairs,
O God, do not forsake me,
until I proclaim your might
to all the generations to come.
—Psalm 71:17-18 (NRSVUE)

Prayer for the Week

Gracious God of Liberation, free us from our enemies. And when we are the enemies, transform us from oppressing others into removing the yoke from their necks and practicing freedom. In Christ’s name, Amen. —Prayer from Psalms for Black Lives by Gabby Cudjoe-Wilkes and Andrew Wilkes

God has sustained me through loss of my parents, job loss, David’s battle with Covid, loss of friends, bad relationships, and many other trials. God was hold me even when I felt i could not sense God’s presence. On some days, still being here is the victory.
David injured his knee in a fall on Tuesday, but is getting better. I take my peer specialist certification exam Monday. I’m very nervous. We travel to Atlanta tomorrow and I take the test Monday. Severe weather is forecast. Prayers are appreciated.
Julie, I pray for as h comes home, that God gives you what you need to care for him.
Would like to hear from Robert and pray he is well. Love to all.

Recent weeks have been so unpredictable, with Lowell having ER visits and a four day hospitalization, in addition to all the scheduled diagnostic procedures and appointments with MD specialists. Many days, I don’t find a moment to look at New Every Morning until I go to bed. Thankfully, this past busy week has had no crises and Lowell has had decent pain control. He starts his chemo and radiation program next week. I am most nervous about Lowell’s bones, given his diagnosis, and ask for your prayers that he suffer no more fractures. Please pray I remain able to care for him. Yesterday, we signed our HCDs, POAs, wills and a joint trust and went out to lunch near home to celebrate. I feel your prayers embracing us. I feel God is putting the people we need for support all along the path we are now on . Looking back over my lifetime, I see how God has blessed me over and over with strength and guidance through difficult, challenging times. I pray for my UR friends: Ally and David; Julie, Megan, and h; Jill, her father, sister and sister’s family; Rusty and K; Robert and Erich; Lou and her adult children. Love and Happy Valentines Day.
