New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

You are a “word” of God! Every human being is a word that God speaks into existence. Paul makes a profound statement in Ephesians 1:4 (paraphrased): “God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and blameless before God in love.” It seems that Paul is taking us back to Genesis 1: “God said . . . and there was . . .” It takes us back to the primal Word of God by which all creation was “spoken forth” into being. But Paul takes us even further. He says that we are a word of God “spoken forth” even before the foundation of the world.

Today’s Scripture

Then God said, “Let us make humanity in our image to resemble us so that they may take charge of the fish of the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the earth, and all the crawling things on earth.”
—Genesis 1:26 (CEB)

Prayer for the Week

Help us, O God, to let you do whatever you want to do in our lives. Help us to say yes to you at the center of our being. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

To answer the question, not often, but there is more to this. God created humans, male and female and enabled them to reproduce. Even
Biblical people knew that it took a man and a woman to produce a child. Is God at work in this process, somehow I think so, but it is a mystery to me. Thank You, Lord.

Never. I agree with Robert, God used more than a word.
I would say we are an idea of God’s. An idea he then created into reality.

I have never thought of this, and it doesn’t really resonate with me.
However – I have come to appreciate that God did know me before the foundation of the world was laid. He knew everything about me…I wanted to type He knows everything about me – back then…I have come to understand (in my limited human way) that God is outside of time. There is no past, present and future for God – it just is. Like He said in the OT and would say today…I AM that I AM. He is, He is constant, He is outside of the realm of our human understanding. And, yet, He desires relationship with me. Whoa.
The past two days have been so busy. I started physical therapy – very gently, very moderately. And, yes, even so – I felt it somewhat yesterday. So, I didn’t stretch or do any of the exercises they gave me to do. Will do them today. Will walk after school. My physical therapist is really encouraged by everything the doc noted and how I was able to be stretched and worked with Wednesday.
Dad, Becky and Don all have covid. Dad is very weak and very discouraged. He is not one to sit around and do nothing. So, psychologically – this is a big hurdle. Becky, being a pleaser, is unable to tell him what to do and what not to do. So, I play the “bad cop” while on the phone – telling him he needs to just rest and let his body heal. Don’t go for a ride on the golf cart. Don’t go to physical therapy for your shoulder. Just be.
