New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

As Christians we live by faith in God, and we carry within us the notorious hope that a life of faithfulness is indeed the best way to live. Our hope is that fidelity and faithfulness will result in a holy life and the comforting companionship of Jesus Christ. The rewards of peace and assurance of continued companionship with God in the life to come belong to every faithful Christian.

—Rueben P. Job, in  Hope: It’s More Than Wishful Thinking, compiled and introduced by Amy Lyles Wilson (Fresh Air Books, 2010)

Today’s Scripture

We work and struggle for this: “Our hope is set on the living God, who is the savior of all people, especially those who believe.”

What results and rewards of hope feel most meaningful to you? Life everlasting. It’s World Communion Sunday, a blessed sacrament celebrated for 24 hours around the world. Blessings to all of you on this day. Thank You, Lord for all You do for us.

The hope and promise of eternal life with Christ is foremost. Seeing my departed loved ones is a close second. I believe hope is for this world as well: that disciples can make this world better. Since in- person worship has resumed, my home church in Alabama has offered Holy Communion weekly. Practice of the sacrament of Communion puts my heart right. Praying all have had a beautiful Sunday.

His incredible peace, which He imparts during times of struggle, when we keep our eyes fixed on Him. What a gift His peace is. And the limited vision, as through a glass darkly…but the face to face reality of life with Him in heaven. Father, thank You for that promise in 1st Corinthians.
While not the prettiest day, we didn’t get hardly any rain and the sun is trying to sneak through. Church on line this morning and then tennis. Good to be back with my regular team and my regular partner. I missed the first week and she missed last week after having her wisdom teeth out. We make a good duo – and she matches my intensity – which I appreciate. There is no quit in her.
I haven’t cracked open my school bag all weekend and figure, why start now? Since the rain is at bay, I think I will take a walk and then watch a bit more football before calling it a day and weekend.
Dad and I got to play about 14 holes last night – it was a picture perfect evening. Provided the weather holds, we will play this coming Saturday, the day after his 88th birthday.
My friend is going to help me with Roger tomorrow. I am just hoping the sedative is quite strong, so he doesn’t freak out and fight us. If we can get him in a carrier – we will be fortunate and able to breathe easy.
