New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

I’ve met more than a few people who fear praying aloud. . . . While I suggest making prayer a part of the group time in some way, there is certainly nothing wrong with reading a psalm as prayer, inviting a group member to close in prayer, making a list of prayer requests and emailing them out to group members for personal prayer during the week, or writing a prayer to send with the group each week.

Today’s Scripture

Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.

I try to let others have a chance to pray. I could easily pray in agroup and have done so. Hope Jill is doing well after tennis opportunities this weekend, hat David is becoming more stable with his walker, finances are improving for Ally&David, h is more patient and easier for Julie to care for, Julie’s health fissures are receiving good attention. Thankful Anneliese has the funds to fix damage done to the house by a falling tree, Prayers for two church members who have passed. Hopeful tomorrow’s SPRC meeting has all its members in attendance and the meeting with the DS goes well. Slightly cooler, still humid, rain expected. Prayers for the UMC as it faces changes. Our bishop retired. Not sure when a new bishop will come. Thankful for a good checkup yesterday with my doctor. Need to drink more water, but otherwise I’m fine Thank You, Lord.

I have never had the opportunity to do this.
Things are not going better with h. His one “friend” has not been around and I am dreading when he returns because he makes h more agitated and demanding. However, h continues to rail against my deciding he cannot drive and the bank determining that he is no longer capable of having his own accounts.
Prayers for Ally and David, for their continued financial struggles and for David’s continued unsteadiness which resulted in a fall yesterday. Prayers for their sick kitties to be helped my the vet. Prayers for Jill as she continues tennis. Prayers for Robert’s church as they continue to try to meet worship service needs without a pastor.

Getting past the idea that the Lord expects our prayers to sound eloquent and profound really helped me. Some days I don’t have the words and I pray the psalms. God is our friend and I try to think about how I talk to my friends. i try to stay away from cliches and religious- sounding words. I try to say what I feel in my heart.
Yesterday was an awful day. I won’t go into all that happened. Owe appreciate continued prayers. Our Lucy is now at vet. Her was symptoms point to severe constipation. David adopted Lucy several Years ago soon after his divorce. She is a darling kitty and has been a delightful companion to David and to me also. She and our Jeremy are special friends. Pray for her healing.
I hold all your concerns close in my heart. These are difficult days for many of us. Blessings to all.

Indeed, the concerns for Ally and Julie are paramount. Father, hear our cries. May both find manna sufficient for the day…in terms of patience, hope, endurance.
Pressure-free praying, that is what I learned in my small groups. Raw, from the heart, not all cleaned up. Just face to face with the LORD. I don’t want to be a Pharisee on the corner for show.
A cloudy, rainy day here – figures it would be when the tennis team was gathering at a players house for tennis and a pool party. It was pleasant to visit and get to know others better. Both teams from my new club qualified for the state competition. It will be nice to have the support of each other there in enemy territory.
Meeting my friend for a walk this evening. I had to cancel last week’s walk – so it has been almost 2 weeks since we have walked. Will be good to catch up.
