Unexpected GraceNew Every Morning | April 4, 2021
When God speaks, God reminds the [Israelites], “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery” (Exod. 20:2).
The God whose presence shakes the mountain is the God who heard their cries when they were in slavery. The God who gives the commandments is the God who freed them from bondage and rescued them when they stood helpless beside the Red Sea. This is the God who, in an amazing act of unexpected grace, saves them when they find themselves utterly incapable of saving themselves.
