New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Dawn of Life,
Dawn of Love,
We greet you.

Bless us this day,
And bless all we meet:
The grieving friend,
The laughing child,
The stranger on the corner.

Fill our hearts with your light
And let that light shine through us,
Bringing friendship and hope,
Peace and presence.

We are yours.

—Beth A. Richardson, Christ Beside Me, Christ Within Me: Celtic Blessings (Upper Room Books, 2016)

God’s light is shining through me to my children, Erich and Jenny, and to my granddaughters. Willa and Oona.
Romans Bible study this morning. Church council tonight.
    Partly cloudy brisk weather today.
Prayers for Jill and her recovery from surgery, Ally’s search for a car. Julie caring for h. A safe and good Thanksgiving to all. Thank You, Lord.

I hope there will be light emanating from me to my students and colleagues today. The staff feels like we are crawling to the finish line tomorrow at 3:15. A gray, rainy, dreary day outside the windows.
I am so grateful for my physical therapist. I have been working with her for about a year now and she continues to try to unravel the mystery of my discomfort. My pre-existing condition muddies the waters – but she strives and strives. She worked on me quite a bit and it was uncomfortable – but necessary to try and break up the inflammation. I am on anti-inflammatories and icing again. She wants to see me again tomorrow – so I scheduled an appointment after school.
Need to bake up some cookies this evening for Thanksgiving. The oven will be devoted to the turkey breast Thursday morning.

I see God’s light shining here among this community. Robert, thank you for gently reminding me that children and grandchildren are a continuous source of light from God. Jill, thank you for the encouragement about physical therapy. I have had foot pain and swelling that has kept me from my main source of wellness and fitness – walking outside – now for 5 months. The doctors can’t figure it out and I will transition to PT next week. Lord, please empower and shine your light through the physical therapists who work with H, with Jill, and with me to provide knowledgeable, compassionate and effective care needed to get out lives back to where they need to be.

I see God’s light shining through my friends who check in to say hello, from the group text message with my children where we shared a joke this morning and checked in with each other, and I try to shine his light when I work with my patients – the holiday season is hard for so many who have difficult family relationships or those who are lonely. This is a time to especially shine God’s light to all of those we meet. Make God bless you all this thanksgiving.
So good to hear from you Rusty – I’ve been following along – prayers for this community-

Lou! Wonderful to “hear” your voice. So glad to know you’re still with this community. I’m please to know you’ve been following along and were able to check in today. And thank you for the reminder to to shine light for those for whom the holidays can be difficult. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Bless this car. Bless this house. Bless these groceries. Bless this job. Bless these co-workers who supported me through a traumatic day, bless this medicine that helps my pain. Bless this hot tea that warms me. Bless the words in prayer cannot say today.
God’s light shine through my friends and co-workers and family and husband who helped me through this day. The light shone through the law enforcement officers who were so kind. Something happened I can’t yet name or talk about. I covet your prayers as I try to find God in all this. Bless you.
