New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

The church is much like a theatrical production. . . . The church brings together all sorts of people with different likes and dislikes, talents, gifts, passions, and resources. Individually, we may think that what we can contribute isn’t worth much or isn’t very important. Just like in the theater, though, there are no unimportant parts. When we each do our part, the final product is far bigger and better than the mere sum of everyone’s efforts. When the Holy Spirit enters the picture, anything can happen. It’s explosive. It’s exponential. It’s life-changing. It’s world-changing.

Today’s Question

When people watch your church in action, what do they see?
Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
—Acts 1:8 (NRSV)

I guess my answer to today’s question is a question. Is my church seen in action? I wish I had feedback regarding this. How we are perceived is reality for others.
Worship planning through Christmas accomplished at last night’s worship team meeting. Hope some technical difficulties didn’t cut off a potential contributor. Will reach out and see what I can learn.
A new month just around the corner, Hope this month ends well and the new one starts well. Thank You, Lord.

A church that gives to the community, especially those in need.
Prayers for Ally and David, for health and finances and help in caregiving. Prayers for Jill, for strength as she helps her friend who lost her mother and her friend who may lose her marriage. Prayers for Lou as she helps her mother care fror her ill brother. Prayers for Robert and the CCUMC as they plan worship services without a pastor and prayers that the technical issues may be resolved.

I think observers see us serving well, tending to each other well and feeding on The Word. I do see intentional endeavors to glorify Him, and it stirs me to be an active participant.
It was so incredibly rewarding to be back in front of my students today. I had two classes – one a fresh batch of year 1 students and the other a small group I had from last year. I will see the remainder of my students tomorrow – in three classes. I am in my comfort zone with them. I had an honest conversation about my being immuno-compromised, and thus wearing a mask, for the forseeable future. They listened well. Hopefully tomorrow’s conversations will be equally well received.
Had dinner with my friend – she had picked up some Thai. Spent some time discussing the book we are working through and took her dogs for a walk. It was a lovely evening, very comfortable temps with no humidity.
I spoke with my friend who lost her mom. Having some issues with her sisters as to how to memorialize her mom. Her mom didn’t want anything, and my friend is trying to honor that. But her younger sisters are wanting something more. I am sorry she is in this spot. She knows her mom wanted nothing at all. I will be praying for wisdom and kind words.
