New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

I grew up believing that salvation was something that happened after the altar call during the singing of “Just as I Am,” when someone prayed for God’s forgiveness and accepted Christ into their lives. I still believe that experience can be part of God’s work of salvation. But there is more.

Salvation is an ongoing work of grace through which I am being released from the suffocating smallness of life turned in on itself to live in the spacious greatness of God’s boundless life and love.

—James A. Harnish, Easter Earthquake: How Resurrection Shakes Our World (Upper Room Books, 2017)

Today’s Scripture

Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me in a broad place.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
For the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
And he shall reign for ever and ever.

Hmmm, thisis a new concept for me. God’s spaciousness, I know Godis everywhere and can be with each believer always. But never thought of spaciousness. Ongoing grace and growth, I understand and can feel transpiring in my life. The smallness of each life I also understand and that I and my life are mere specks in God’s sight so maybe this is to what the author is eluding.

Layer upon layer of grace in my life – so evident to me in 20/20. And what I must cling to when hard times come. Part of that grace is being able to reflect upon His grace. He weaves a beautiful design and continues to reveal more and more of it to us, and are place in it.
Very ready to head south. School work is in a good spot – it is a relief to know it is taken care of.
Good sharing last night at small group. The faithfulness of those women, their willingness to be honest, and their steadfast prayers are a blessing.
Roger is gonna be one unhappy feline. Hopefully he will warm up to my god-daughter after a few grumpy days.
Blessings to all here. May this Easter weekend be a reflective and encouraging space for you.

Whenever I hear/think of spaciousness I go to the Dixie Chicks and their song Wide Open Spaces. And then I remember my niece who left our world too soon, but I am sure she is in those Wide Open Spaces of heaven, singing and dancing in the love of our Lord!! Spaciousness is the open fields and pastures where there is no one but me and God and the clouds and air, where the possibilities are endless ….just like the love of God. I am breathing deeply and have a smile on my face today 😊)
Easter weekend coming soon…..my favorite festival is Easter Sunday and it looks to be bright and sunny and warm. He is Risen!!
Prayers for each and all, staying home or traveling. Will attend online services tonight, tomorrow and for sure Sunday. I will tune in to the many services on Youtube ….thank you Larry for mentioning Worldwide Virtual Easter Choir !(Thine Be the Glory). Blessing to our UpperRoom Family.
