New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Since we are part of this grand creative cosmology, spring can be a season for our blossoming as well. Like the gardens abounding throughout the earth, the gardens of our souls have organic rhythms—patient fallow times, laborious seed-planting times, and surprising spurts of growth.

—Linda Douty, Rhythms of Growth: 365 Meditations to Nurture the Soul (Upper Room Books, 2014)

Today’s Question

Which “organic rhythm” do you find your soul in right now?

Today’s Scripture

Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these.
—Luke 12:27 (NRSV)

Prayer for the Week

Thank you, God, for sun and showers.
Thank you for each lovely flower.
Thank you for each stately tree.
Though all these, you speak to me.

Spiritually I’m trying to grow, need to order the book for the next Bible study. A little winded after our trip to the Poconos didn’t achieve what we hoped for.. Trying to decide what to do, keep going or take a break. Will still donate furniture and keep an eye on things. Wellness exam and second booster shot tomorrow. Need to review NEM posts to see how all of you are doing. Thankful for a roof over our heads.

I’m trying to grow spiritually and personally. But health issues are getting in the way as they consume my thoughts and time.
Prayers for Ally and David and their health and financial concerns. Prayers for Jill as she ministers to her students and Roger. Prayers for Robert as he tries to decide whether to move or not given the market and record high mortgage rates. Prayers for Lou and her family.

I feel like I am emerging from a fallow time/time in the aridness. I feel like spring break was regenerative in many ways, including in my ability to focus in the morning. At the beginning of the year, I thought I was being called to something and then it just fizzled out. I didn’t know what to make of that and think I became a bit disinterested in seeking Him and His Kingdom. I think the ship is steered in the correct position again, and am hopeful for some consistent movement.
Practicing patience at school, noticing some slight edginess. It is good to be aware and to make sure I am concentrating on the person and task at hand.
My sister’s second cataract surgery went well and the three of them are headed to Florida to move things into the new villa and line things up like mowing, etc for the summer. They will be gone about 10-11 days. The timing works well as I will be busy with my students this weekend preparing them for their exams. We have review sessions scheduled both days.
Was able to watch my god son’s baseball game yesterday as it rained minimally. It was a pleasant surprise, as the game was only 5 minutes from my house. Tomorrow he is pitching – but it only supposed to be 40 degrees and windy. I am trying to talk myself into bundling up and going. We will see.

I feel that God is showing me things: areas where I need to trust God, attitudes that need adjustment, persons I need to forgive. I still feel like I’m in a holding pattern. Perhaps I am in a place where God can work with me.
David’s appointment to get report on his biopsy is tomorrow. His appointment was moved from early morning to afternoon because his urologist has a surgery scheduled for in the morning. David is disappointed because he was ready to find out what is going on. We are praying for a positive outcome. I am going to do some contract work with a former colleague writing a programming proposal for a work release reentry program. I’m very excited about this and pray it turns into more work. our pastor talked with us about joining a group of LGBTQ+ allies and family members. We are excited about this opportunity to help our community through education.
Robert, prayers that Holy Spirit will give wisdom and discernment about how to proceed regarding your move. Prayers as you get your second booster, for minimum after effects. Julie, prayers for your healing and that you will feel better soon. Prayers especially for your walking and that you will overcome and grow. Jill, praise that Becky’s surgery went well. There is nothing like being able to see better. Prayers for the weird vibe at school. Prayers for the trip to Florida and that it will be productive. Prayers for Lou and her family as they continue to deal with their new normal. Jill, the coldest I have ever been in the spring was at Atlanta Braves opening day about 10 years ago. Temps in the 40s and windy. Stay warm! I give thanks to almighty God for the Upper Room and for NEM. Be blessed.
