New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Forgiving does not require us to forget but to remember without rancor. To remember well is to hold both the victim and the victimizer in God’s grace, with prayer for every form of healing and blessing for both. God’s project in the world is to redeem all, heal all, bless all.

—Marjorie J. Thompson, Companions in Christ: The Way of Forgiveness (Upper Room Books, 2002)

Today’s Scripture

very patient, and full of faithful love.
The Lord is good to everyone and everything;
God’s compassion extends to all his handiwork!”

    There are 2 people who have passed away and I have not forgiven them. I have said “I forgive” and then I push them out of my brain, maybe for months at a time. Then I let them back in and the rancor is still there. When they died, I was not happy to hear about their deaths, but I did not grieve or really feel sorry. I was kind of numb. I pray today to be able to extend grace toward those who have hurt me. Lord, help me do this.

    Prayers for you Ally- it is hard to let some hurts go. Pain is very difficult to work through but God is with you.
    I pray for healing and peace for those who have hurt me and do not acknowledge the hurt and pain they have caused. I fear that it will be with me lifelong though I try to manage it with the Lord’s love and guidance.
    I pray for healing for my mother and my brother who are both struggling with health issues. I pray for a good friend awaiting test results, a friend who I believe struggles with a drinking problem, a friend who is struggling financially, a friend who is lonely, just to name a few. So many struggle and I pray for God to grant them peace. I pray daily for my own health – I believe that today God answered one of my prayers very directly and I give praise to the Healer who holds us close. I pray for all here At the UR as I follow daily your needs, joys and concerns.
    God bless all who come here today.
