New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Working for conflict transformation is hard work and takes time. Reconciliation is a journey, so we need to be committed to a journey of a lifetime. Most of the time we do not see what we hoped for, and we never know fully how our work has planted seeds or influenced events. … However, the work of conflict transformation is the most exciting and fulfilling work we can do, and working for reconciliation is our calling.

—Thomas Porter, The Spirit and Art of Conflict Transformation: Creating a Culture of Justpeace (Upper Room Books, 2010)

Today’s Scripture

So when you are offering your gift at the altar, if you remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother or sister, and then come and offer your gift.
—Matthew 5:23-24 (NRSV)

Prayer for the Week

The Office of Aging individual I am working with called yesterday regarding the scammers. She contacted them and interviewed him. She said he is indeed a con man. She related that this case has her very fired up and she intends, if she develops enough evidence to support it, to send the case to the district attorney for prosecution.
Prayers for Ally, may God ease her pain and may she be able to have the lipoma removed soon. Prayers for Jill and Larry to enjoy their day of golf. Prayers for Robert and his fellow church members as they set their sites on a new lay servant course.

I don’t feel led to reconciliation currently. For so many years I needed to have an improved attitude regarding my sister. Through consistent surrender to God, He worked a mighty change in my heart. My sister and I are in a space I never thought we could get to.
Today was a very pleasant day for golf. Dad played unbelievably well on the front nine and was easily on pace to shoot his age. But things fell apart on the back nine and he finished with an 89. He said to me – since I turn 89 in a month, can I count this?
Slept poorly last night – so hoping for much better rest this evening. Turning in soon.
Cancer support group tomorrow – I need to be surrounded by these courageous persons.
