New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Lord, show me the way today.
Show me an aspect of your
greatness that I tend to overlook.
Show me what makes you smile and
what makes you sad.
Show me people whom I need to
Forgive and from whom I
should seek forgiveness.
I especially need you to show me . . . you.
Thank you for showing yourself to me in your son,
Jesus Christ. Amen.

—Ray C. Jordan, “Morning Prayer,” in The Africana Worship Book (Year C), edited by Valerie Bridgeman Davis and Safiyah Fosua (Discipleship Resources, 2008)

Today’s Scripture

Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth;
give me an undivided heart to revere your name.

Prayer for the Week

Abba, Help us to see beyond ourselves,
and see you in ALL of the world.
It is because of your goodness and
in response to your grace
that I pray . . . Amen.

Thankful that much of the July 3rd worship service is planned, prepared being guided by resources from Discipleship and the UMC hymnal. In the wake of the news from both the Supreme Court and Congress in Washington DC, it’s a mixed day at best. Some progress with gun safety, but more guns on the street. Birth control, pregnancy, abortion, women’s rights, right to life, and related topics are stirring up the entire country. Resolution that everyone can agree to is remote. As with slavery, earlier n our history, there are two very entrenched camps. Compromise is not seen as an acceptable solution. Lord, do we ever need Your wisdom.
Weather wise a warmer weekend is predicted, at the moment it is very pleasant with cool morning temps and sunshine. Blessings to you all. Thank You, Lord!

I ask for patience and forebearance. I ask for the ability to forgive my abuser of 25 years. I ask for God to walk beside me each day and help me to look to his Son and emulate his example.
It is becoming more and more apparent that h is very badly impaired. I have reached out to the Parkinsons foundation. They have several support groups in the area. I have also been receiving comments on my “wall” on their website and so I need to take time to figure out how to navigate the site.
Prayers for Ally and David, may God walk wih them and provide for them as they need and may he assuage their worry. Prayers for April may God provide her strength for the day ahead. Prayers for Jill, for praise and thanksgiving for her good health and lack of symptoms. Prayers for Lou and her family. Prayers for Rick and Scott. Prayers for Robert as he and his church prepare for July’s laity led worship and the strawberry shortcake fundraier.

I ask God to give me eyes to see opportunities. In my mind’s eye, I have an idea of what I want things to look like. But, then He surprises me – and a circumstance arises that I could never have scripted and it is just right. Praise God.
A lovely summer morning – very pleasant to watch my god son pitch a baseball game. A nice leisurely ride, left in time to stop at a quaint coffee shop to pick up an iced latte to enjoy during the game. Always good to see my best friend, even though conversation is minimal – especially when her son is pitching.
A graduation party for one of my students this afternoon – surprisingly close to my house – at a local FOP. My cousin had told me about fishing on the lake at the FOP, had no idea it was right under my nose practically. Good to visit with my student and her sister, who was also a student of mine this year and will be next year. Also, good to speak with their mother.
An easy evening ahead – likely a walk after dinner. Tomorrow is to be a rainy day – we will see if the forecasters are correct. Enjoying just being at home, reading, unconcerned about time, napping. Its a refreshing change from a day of golf and tennis. I enjoy both and am grateful for the mix.
