New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

The significant work of knowing ourselves and God can bring us to a place of humility and compassion. We are the gardeners of the tree of our soul. No other person can increase the size and depth of the circle in which our tree must grow. We must do it. Through the Holy Spirit’s guidance, we can fill that space with the soil of humility and establish the roots of compassion.

—Christopher Maricle, Deeply Rooted: Knowing Self, Growing in God (Upper Room Books, 2016)

Today’s Scripture

Finally, all of you be of one mind, sympathetic, lovers of your fellow believers, compassionate, and modest in your opinion of yourselves.

Prayer for the Week

People are attracted to those who are humble, then the Word can be shared.

Thankful for progress with my models, the combine – a three function car – is almost done.
Breakfast with the pastor on ZOOM this morning. Food shopping before that.

Continued prayers for God’s peace, love, mercy, and grace. Be safe and secure in God’s hands. Thank You,
    Lord for your love.

Being humble allows me to see the needs of others and to give them the help they need. If I am able to place myself in their shoes, I will know how best to serve them.
Prayers for Robert and his pastor and I add my heartfelt prayers to yours.
Prayers for Jill and Larry and their continued health allowing them to enjoy golf together.
Prayers for Ally and David and their continued recovery.
Prayers for Lou and her youngest as they struggle to understand one another.
I am shaking as h has already accosted me verbally and repeatedly. He then harassed the poor exterminator. He then left and went to his “friends.” He has been pending all day everyday with them and I concerned for my welfare. I have so many other pressing issues to deal with I am nearing my breaking point. Sorry, I try not to share my concerns, but it is fresh. I am so sorry.
Prayers, thank you and stay healthy dear UR one and all

As in 2 Corinthians tells us, the experiences I have enable me to comfort others. Often, those experiences allow me to see my humanness. Giving comfort is one way to demonstrate compassion. Without humility, it’s hard to feel compassion and empathy for others. I try to be thankful for those humbling experiences that grow humility.
Thanks so much to you all for continued prayers for David. The swelling seems to have subsided and he is taking a potassium supplement and feels better.
Jill, I pray for Larry’s neck pain and am glad y’all got to enjoy some golf. Robert, it makes me smile to see the joy working with models brings you. It is so important to find things in these crazy times which bring us joy. Julie, we are here for you to share what is weighing on your heart. Thank you for trusting us enough. My prayers continue for your situation with H. I pray for your safety and a peaceful resolution. I have been wondering something about H. Does he have issues with substance abuse? His behaviors seem compatible with using. Lou, prayers continue for you and your daughter’s relationship. Loving Lird, make us aware of your presence and help us to show compassion to others. Amen.

Do unto others, love your neighbor, and other things like those are more important and real to those practicing humility.
