Today’s Reflection
TO BE CHILDREN of God requires only that we commit ourselves to God’s will and make our actions and words consistent with God’s desire to bring mercy and charity to others through us. Jesus is our model for uniting our will to God’s will.
—Christopher Maricle, The Jesus Priorities: 8 Essential Habits (Upper Room Books, 2007)

The most important lesson I can learn from Jesus is also a part of the Serenity Prayer, “accepting hardships as the pathway to peace.” Jesus died on the cross, a very painful and humiliating death so I could have the peace of God’s salvation. The hardships I endure, physical, emotional, financial, will result in making me a better testament to His love and faithfulness. It creates in me a humble heart full of compassion for the suffering of others. I can spot thise who hurt, even when it is evident only in their eyes. Thank you God for your many roses amongst the thorns.
Prayers for Rick, so good to “hear” from him. May his studies go well and may his kitty’s diabetes remain under control.
Prayers for Robert, may he remain healthy so he may remain such a mainstay with his nuclear family as well as his church family.
Prayers for Jill and her students, may her health improve with new medication so she may have to energy to remain present with her students.
Prayers for Andrea, for her health as well as her gandson’s health. Prayers for Lou’s physical and emotional health.
Prayers for April, Betsy, BJ, Connie, Mary, and Marcy.
Prayers and thank you UR
Nay sayers might say what good is it to be like Jesus. Look where it got him, death on a cross. But to believers what nay sayers see as nonsense we see as love in action. Lord help us to love as You loved.
Thankful to read a post from Julie, lately there seem to be fewer posts, hope everyone is OK, no the so-so o k, but the real thing, OK!
Thank you Julie, I am doing well, had. nice visit with a friend this morning over muffins, coffee or tea.
Your prayers are my prayers as well and were said this morning before I got up. It’s chilly here, but roads and driveways are plowed and bare. Somehow, some way, the concerns, needs, and joys of the UR family are lifted up thanks to the Holy Spirit. Thank You, Lord.
Certainly being a life-long learner is appropriate in this context. For, I will always fall short of His example. But, I mustn’t stop striving. Each day can be an improvement upon the last. Each little pebble an addition to the foundation. So critical to be in His Word, to be surrounded and supported by other like-minded servants, and to be in the world making an impact. May I be found faithful.
Still trying to get myself situated back in my routine. A bit of a rough step back into my routine with a very hectic week and a hectic weekend with a tennis tournament. All will be fine and ultimately I will fall back in step.
May those who gather here find a peaceful solace and an ever present Spirit. May each one trust Him completely, His sovereign provision.
