New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

In its broadest arc, the Bible tells the story of our reunion with the God who is our Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer, our parent by birth and by adoption, the most complete image of our identity. We are legion, we are many, but God has our seemingly infinite variety covered by God’s own infinite image. However we differentiate ourselves, we cannot deny the image of God that imprints us, shaping us in ways our DNA maps cannot describe.

I am not sure I have an answer to this…diverse reflections of God’s image. Hmmm. I believe we are uniquely created and uniquely gifted – so maybe that is part of it? And along with that…uniquely planted in our space. May we live out His intentions for us.
My heart is heavy again this morning. Yesterday, just before noon, staff received an email from our principal saying one of our own had passed, unexpectedly. Our engineering teacher who was our Teacher of the Year last year, passed before the paramedics could even pull out of his driveway. His wife is one of our secretaries. So many of my students were in his class, and involved in his robotics club. My heart aches for his wife Mary, and for his children, one of which I had in class many years ago. My heart aches for his/my students – separated and isolated and unable to grieve together, with the support of their teachers. Many staff are gathering today at school and will caravan to their house to do a drive-by. It’s just devastating – being separated, unable to physically comfort each other in this deep loss. Unreplaceable does not begin to describe him. He put in 12 hour days, remaining after school for 3-4 hours EACH night to run the robotics club. His teams consistently were crowned state champions in various categories and at least a team or two advanced to worlds each year. This year was no different, but the students were left empty handed as the world competition was canceled just like everything else.
Yes, there is anger in my emotion. This isolation can be suffocating at times.
May God have mercy on Dan’s family, his students and the school community.
Father, God – please don’t tarry any longer than is necessary – I know You won’t. Come quickly, Saviour Jesus. Until then, blanket us in Your love.

Very upsetting news from you, Jill. I was a teacher away from school when my wife passed away, very hard returning. My prayers for Dan, his wife Mary, his children, you, your colleagues, and his students.

YES! “I believe we are uniquely created and uniquely gifted . . . And along with that…uniquely planted in our space.[ felt this as an intercity teacher]May we live out His intentions for us.” Without God right there with us, life is hard.

Thankful for Easter. Love accomplished what we couldn’t do but desperately needed. Thank You, Lord.

The Bible says we are each created in His image. There are many images of Him that populate the earth, from different skin colors, languages, sexes, and customs and beliefs. However, God is infinite so it is reasonable to extrapolate that His image is infinite enough to encompass all humankind with its many differences.
Prayers for Jill, Dan’s family, his coworkers and students. This is a strange and heartwrenching time to lose a loved one due to the human need for comfort and our inability to provide such, may the family feel the love during the driveby.
Prayers for Robert and his loss of long ago which he continues to mourn .
Prayers for Lou and her family as they try to stay connected from miles apart.
Prayers for Andrea and her family as they were unable to celebrate Easter with thier young grandson.
Prayers for April, her family and their love of God’s creation.
Prayers for BJ and her mom. I am thankful for BJs wonderful faith which teaches me Bible verses and Chrisian love.
Prayers for Rick as he continues to work on his studies remotely, may he get caught up by Tuesday as needed.
Prayers for Ally and David, may David continue to rally and eventually recover and may Ally continue to find solace among the UR prayers group. We have you in our arms and hold you close to our hearts.
