New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Cross: Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit;

Invitatory bead: as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,

Resurrection bead: world without end. Amen.

1st cruciform bead: Lord, you set lights in the heavens for the day and the night.

Week beads, set 1: Use each bead to express awe for the sun and moon, the planets and stars.

—Kristen E. Vincent and Max O. Vincent, Another Bead, Another Prayer: Devotions to Use with Protestant Prayer Beads (Upper Room Books, 2014)

Today’s Question

How often do you take time to gaze at the sun or moon and thank God for these beautiful lights? Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good, and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night.
—Genesis 1:3-5 (NRSV)

Prayer for the Week

Pray the following prayer as you touch the cross, invitatory bead, and resurrection beads on a set of Protestant prayer beads.

Holy God, heaven and earth are filled with your glory.
Let my praise be united with that of
the angels as we proclaim that
you are holy, holy, holy. Amen.

Submit your prayer to The Upper Room.

The moon begins its trek in the evening sky over my back yard, and ends in my front yard in the morning, assuming it is not. overcast and is visible. The exact path changes throughout the year. Now we are on a march. toward longer days of light. This will be true through the. summer solstice . We have a 4 seasons room where I watch the sun rise.

I enjoy checking out where the moon is, how much of it there is and how brightly it is shining when I head out for my early morning run. When I can see it clearly, there is a good chance it will be a sunny day. The moon is a bit mysterious…its path, how much of it is displayed.
No run this morning as it was very windy and rainy. I am not at school this morning as I have to go for my follow up with the specialist. It has been a nice, leisurely morning – did some grading and some chores.
Will head to school following my appointment, for my two afternoon classes. We are also having an awards assembly at the end of the day. Another week in March down…halfway through the month.
I came across St. Patrick’s Breastplate prayer today…I would encourage you to seek it out. Parts were familiar, all of it encouraging.

I notice when it is sunny and am thankful for the sun shining, especially in the winter.
The Upper Room website is not working properly. The note you get when you try to access today’s devotional states that they are working on it. I subscribe to the print addition also which comes in handy at such times. I have a lot of work to do today, so it will be a busy day.

I have marveled at the light from stars and planets the last few weeks. Yesterday, the beauty of God’s creation touched my heart. The sky was brilliant blue, spring is busting out. The dogwoods are in bloom.
Kitty Lewis is much better. He spent the night at the vets and got strong antibiotics. Dr. Valerie said he is eating well. He’s coming home today. Getting ready to go pick him up. Thank you for your prayers for my sweet boy. I’m working my work from home business. Pray I can keep up and complete tasks in a timely manner. I’m slow and get frustrated. Please pray for my sister Amy. I think I shared about this: she and many in her Dept. were laid off 3 weeks ago. Dept. of Labor was throwing up roadblocks to dispersing unemployment. They called their state Senator and problems seem to be working out. Praise God for yhat. Amy is also job hunting. Pray the right job will open up. Amy has worked steady since 1991. Never been laid off. Had 2 jobs in that time period.

More of a sun fan in the morning on wintry days, grew up in very overcast northwest VT. The bright sun makes me squint, not a fan of sunglasses although these days I appreciate my glasses that tint in the sun, Have liked the moon, more aware of it having lived in East Asia. Many holidays based on the moon. So beautiful on cold clear winter nights or in the fall.
Wonderful news about Lewis, coming home soon.
Snowshoed today at Bald Hill, nice trail today, expecting rain this afternoon. season winding down, but not done yet.
Thankful I was able to activate and use Zoom on the replacement computer. Fellowship time and Bible study now possible . Nice to because Ming out of shake down mode. Thank You, Lord.
