New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

In [the] later season of life, our hopes and expectations are sometimes disappointed. At such times, our faith in life’s goodness may be shaken. At other times, expecting nothing or anticipating the worst, we are pleasantly surprised by the small miracles that happen to meet our needs. While the world God created isn’t entirely our personal oyster, small miracles remind us that God often provides us with enough to survive and, sometimes, with enough to thrive.

—Susan Carol Scott, Still Praying After All These Years: Meditations for Later Life (Upper Room Books, 2019)

Today’s Question

What “small miracle” is seeking you out? When it finds you, give thanks. Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
—Hebrews 11:1, NRSV

Prayer for the Week

Sustainer of all that is, give me faith that hopes in what I cannot see. Thank you for the small miracles that find me each day.

“What “small miracle” is seeking you out? When it finds you, give thanks. ” Somehow it doesn’t seem small. that one day my son, daughter, and I will be peacefully reunited, Yes, there will be great thanks on that day, Today, a now laughable memory, when 46 years ago the wedding cake was accidentally
knocked on the floor. A new , better cake was baked overnight, picked up in the morning and enjoyed after the wedding ceremony. That was a very “small miracle”. More in a moment.

I question how one is to answer this question. If it is a small miracle that is waiting to happen, then I do not know it yet. But I will be sure and be thankful when it arrives.

Miracles are found in the Bible and here today as we recognize what has truly happened in several situations. I am slow to acknowledge and give thanks, but today’s message alerts me to be observant and give Him the thanks and praise.
Our second sessions of multi-culture in the church was last night. It was our first of guest speakers. Our leader, a pastor, was so cautious about preventing disrupting the speaker that we were given instructions to not ask questions or interrupt during the presentation. Afterwards he explained that he was worried about what we might say/ask. I was disappointed that he did not trust us and our actions….we are all church members of our church….hummmmmmm. Anyway, I got a glimpse into the life of a pastor….and I pray for pastors and leaders.
I pray for your safety Julie as you await the court decisions. You are a Beloved Child of God!!
I pray for Robert and his family, Lou and her family, Ally and David as they await jobs and continued healing, Jill and her family. For those named and unnamed, my prayers are that we all will feel the hug of Jesus as we travel the road of life, knowing He is watching over us 24/7.
