New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

When Jesus asked the disciples what they were looking for, his question demonstrated once and for all that God is concerned and interested in our desires. Clearly God does not want us to ignore our longings, push them aside, or put them to death. Indeed, the exact opposite is true. God wants us to listen to the desires of our hearts, to befriend them, to understand them, and then to ask for what we want. Whatever our longings may be, God really is interested.

Today’s Scripture

In the path of your judgments,
O LORD, we wait for you;
your name and your renown
are the soul’s desire.

I don’t know if it is a practice – well, I suppose it could be – is just sitting before Him and, to the best of my ability, surrender fully to Him. Through this period of physical weakness, these past few days especially, I have acknowledged that He knows exactly what is going on with my body. I have said to Him – I accept whatever this is and I trust You. When I waver – I ask Him to increase my trust.
These gorgeous, gorgeous summer days – with coolness in the morning and brilliant sunshine and blue skies throughout the day. Julie – I am so glad you and Megan were able to enjoy this weather – eating outside. And, how good of you to note the salon and patronize it.
I did not hear from my PCP yesterday, which was a bit discouraging. I think I may have felt a tad stronger yesterday – and I took a walk in the afternoon. Otherwise, a quiet day around the house, working on schoolwork for next year and watching the golf on tv.

Perhaps since I was OFF LINE for a bit, I had to search for today’s NEW EVERY MORNING. The last one in my inbox was June 11th. I responded to that one.

Having a working keyboard, no more copy and past, fiddle with keys, just type away, sure is great.

Today’s Trevor Hudson post was a bit of an eye opener. I want what God wants and if God wants things , actions that I want that’s amazing. Sure have to think about that.

HopeJill recovers, improves from the health issues she’s facing. Have to go back and read all the posts I missed before I can say much more directly to the UR family. Of course prayers for all your needs , concerns, and joys continue. Happy Father’s Day to fathers. ZOOM church for the 11th week and the foreseeable future. It works for me, God is my rock and has enabled us to worship despite the pandemic.
Sure need God’s wisdom to reopen. I fear it and sound medical advice are being ignored. Thank You Lord for renewed communication, a beautiful day, the UR family of faith, the USA, and the world.

Those 2 comments are from me, Ally. I made a typo in putting my name in.

    Good Morning,
I was taught to not pray for selfish things and to pray for others. This was enlightening for me! I have wants and desires but felt selfish in asking. I will be more conscious of sharing my hearts desires with God. Jill, I’m happy you had more energy and enjoyed your outing with your dad on Friday. I’ll be keeping you in prayers for continued wellness, and healing. I love Henri Nouwen, and enjoy his writings. This has indeed been a time of waiting and I have to pray for patience at times as well as his awareness. I appreciate this insight yesterday. Julie, I’m glad you had some time out in the world and with Megan. It sounds like you both had a very beautiful day. Robert, so good to see your post this morning. I am still getting caught up on my readings as well, due to finals and end of semester. Praying, Marcy and Lucy are doing better. Prayers for Andrea, April, BJ, Lou, Ally and David, that all are doing well. May the Peace of Christ be with you all.

My comments for some reason were deleted. Not sure what was up. Peace and love to all.

God surely knows my heart. I trust in Him. Be near us all dear God during these challenging times-
So good to hear from Robert- happy that your computer problems are resolved and that you are back- I missed your faith filled comments.
I agree that scientific advice is not being followed and things are opening too quickly- and the results are going to be devasting again.
Jill – prayers for your health and your father’s as well. Prayers for Rick as you enjoy some much needed rest from teaching and the business of life. Prayers for Julie, Marcy, April, Andrea, BJ, Sara and Betsy. I wonder if Connie is still able to read the comments – I so miss her input as others have mentioned. Prayers for all who come to this place- God’s Peace.
