Today’s Reflection
The most effective coping mechanism for me is a morning regimen of Bible study, daily devotions, and prayer. Anger is a major problem for me, and I have learned I can’t do anger management by myself. I saw a framed saying that precisely describes what happens during my morning ritual: “Sometimes God calms the storm. . . . Sometimes He lets the storm rage and calms His child.”
—Nell E. Noonan, Not Alone: Encouragement for Caregivers (Upper Room Books, 2009)

[God] made the storm be still,
and the waves of the sea were hushed.

Prayer for the Week
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change those things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.

I also have a morning routine that is vital to my mental health. Also the kitties, playing with them and petting them, help me cope.
I called the Department of Aging earlier this week and they came to the house yesterday to interview both h and me. Nothing will come of it all as they said it was too long ago. Duringg h’s interview he made the scammers sound like saints and himself as the angel Gabriel himself. He went on and on about how they “took care of him’ and he gave them the $140,000 so they could buy a Christams tree and presents because he was raised to help those in need. I almost choked.
Prayers for Ally and David, may David recover physically and may Ally’s melancholy be alleviated. Prayers for Jill and her friends, for God to be with all of them. Prayers for Robert and his church members to continue to be able to sustain their church.
I love that saying – I have never heard it before. “Sometimes God calms the storm. Sometimes He lets it rage and calms His child.” I will hang on to that.
There were times during mom’s ordeal that the only thing which could take my mind off of the current situation was to veg out in front of the tv and watch one of my favorite shows. It was my escape. I found during my time in the morning – it was very hard for me to remain focused on what I was praying or reading.
Dad and I had a beautiful day to golf. Such a comfortable sunny day. I was able to have a relaxed morning – which was wonderful and I met up with him to golf shortly after lunch. We grabbed a quick meal afterwards.
