New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

We wear upon ourselves, like blankets, the testimonies of those who have walked ahead of us. Their names and deeds, woven tightly, become our encouragement and adornment to be given away to listening ears. They are the Lord’s, and they lead the way for us up the hill of the Lord.

—Ray Buckley, “Where We Bury Our Umbilical Cord,” in The Upper Room Disciplines 2024 (Upper Room Books, 2023)

Today’s Question

Whose memory warms you and guides you on your spiritual jouney? Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

One generation commends your works to another;
they tell of your mighty acts.
They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty —
and I will meditate on your wonderful works.
—Psalm 145:4-5 (NIV)

    The saints. The memories not my grandmother. My sister and I call her the Proverbs 31 lady. Memories of her comfort and guide me every day. Her life touched many as teacher and partner in ministry to my grandfather. She was beloved, blessed.

    Whose memory warms you and guides you on your spiritual journey? Parents, my wife, mother-in-law, a youth pastor, a small group in a Korean UMC, and a Bible study leader. Thank You, Lord. Without them my faith would not be what it is today.
    The Jelly Makers have done their work, there’s elderberry and apple jelly, apple butter, and apple sauce. We began focused on elderberries, then ALL THINGS APPLE came along and we joined in.
    It has been a very enjoyable experience. There are more blessings than the physical results of our work. Thank You, Lord.
