New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

For those who struggle with how to pray—or what to pray—prayer beads can provide much-needed structure. Protestant prayer beads, made up of four sets of seven beads, can make prayer easier, especially for hesitant prayers. Rather than having to think of a whole prayer, they can break it down into four bite-sized pieces. For example, they can employ the first set of seven beads to praise God, using each of the seven beads to think of something to say in praise of who God is. The second set can be for confession. The third set can be for our intercessions—our joys and concerns—and the fourth for thanksgiving for what God has done in our lives.

Today’s Scripture

Then Jesus told them a parable about their need to pray always and not to lose heart. [Read the parable of the persistent widow in Luke 18:2-6.]

Prayer for the Week

The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you,

    Persisting is a must. Sometimes desperation drives persistency. Reflecting on God’s faithfulness drives persistency. Examples of others who faithfully pray, this too, drives persistency.
    A morning without fog…the sun is out. Really enjoying these moderate temps now that we are in November.
    Attended a fundraising event for the non-profit organization which provides Biblical counseling – of which I used during mom’s struggle. Good to speak with my former counselor, to renew acquaintances which had been stagnant due to Covid.
    Julie – you are right – the kittens race around my kitchen table and launch themselves at each other off of my kitchen chairs. Tomorrow I plan on opening up the remainder of my first floor to them, as I will be home all day. They are a treasure – they are getting more used to me. And I love them.

    I remember that prayers and situations are ultimately resolved and we must be patient. God works in God’s time.
    I have to have more lab work today as my doctor called earlier this week and urged me to go to the hospital due to low sodium levels. I have chronically low sodium and my PCP doesn’t stress about it but other specialists do. I have followed these dire warnings in the past and my PCP calls the hospital to tell them to release me immediately. So I knew better than to follow the orders.
    Prayers for Ally and David, Jill and her family, Lou and her family and Robert, Erich and the CCUMC. Jill, be sure to have many toys the kittens can bat around and chase. As I type this Piddles is playing with a furry ball and having a grand time entertaining himself!
